A guy from work stopped by asking me to help him figure out why his 4t won't start with the electric starter but it will start with the kick starter. It has spark while turning over but it won't start no matter how long you hold the button. I'm completely puzzled by this one. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

He told me his wife ran it out of gas and it started having this problem. It runs great once its kick started.

very first thing i would do is put a compression gauge on it. low compression 4t motors will only kick start....if at all.

50 or 150? 150s require less compression than 50s do...say...125 psi at least.
