Hi, please bear with me :) I bought a 2nd hand 2005 yamaha 49cc scooter about 3 weeks ago. It takes regular gas and two stroke oil. I have in the basement motomaster 2-cycle Engine oil. Am I able to use this? I'm now thinking, everytime I fill the tank, should I be putting oil in too? Thank you! Tracy

there should be a oil reserve put your oil in that not in your tank if you put in both the mix is to rich, your oil pump will do just fine and any 2t oil will work fine but i would recommend something better then your average weed eater 2t oil

I only use 2 stroke oil that is marked as 2T. The other type is TCW3. I've heard it said that TCW3 is for liquid-cooled engines (ie boats), while 2T is for air cooled engines (ie most scooters). That debate has gone on quite a while in here and I actually used TCW3 for years until I learnt otherwise. I have had no adverse effect on my engien as a result of TCW3 use. I am just erring on the side of caution. While on the topic I use only Shell 2T now. It's not blue like the other stuff, but straw coloured like regular motor oil.
Your Yamaha should be a Zuma, correct? That means your oil tank should be under the seat. There should be an access panel towards the platform where your feet would be when riding. If indeed you do have a Zuma it's a version of the Axis that I have, except that I have the 90cc engine.

You fill the oil tank whenever it looks like it's getting low. There should be an oil light on the speedometer that comes on when the oil level gets low. I use Lucas semi-synthetic 2 stroke oil in my scooter. I have also used Peak brand before. They are both blue in color. Cheap weed whacker oil is better than nothing but I never use it. There is a pump that pumps the oil into the engine. It pumps more oil at faster speeds. A full tank of oil should last for at least 3 or 4 gas tanks. Prolly more but check it often You never know when it may spring a leak or something.

I top of my oil when I fill up with gas so I do not rely on the low oil light . Try Bel Ray MC1 2T oil

I tend to use Royal Purple HP2 in mine, of course I premix and did away with the oil injection system, but that's a whole other beast when it comes down to it.

I would always use a good brand of oil, its the life blood of your engine. Not worth saving a few cents if your going to damage your scoot.

Ive been "testing" Mystik for two years now.. Its the cheapest "reputable" full syn i could find at around $20 a gallon. A gallon last a good while.
I will know more about wear and carbon build-up and such when and if i ever take my Kymco apart.?

Just about any 2cycle, 2stroke, 2T (double stroke lol) oil will work in a pinch. I just wouldnt run cheap oil for any amount of time. Nasty carbon buildup, and quick!
