49 cc Motobravo scooter that runs very well for an hour.....then it shuts down and wont restart... After looking at many areas I found that the oil compartment on the bottom of the engine is full of gas.. I drain the gas/oil mixture and then it runs great again..I have done this three times. How can the gas be getting into the oil compartment??? I opened the rocker arm compartment and did not find any gas going thru there... gas does not drain into the oil when the engine is not running... it only happens when it is running... Any advise would be greatly appreciated.... I placed a new carb on it a few months ago,,, but this problem was happening before that time... thanks,, Ray

stuck float in the carb and/ or stuck fuel petcock.
would like to see a photo of how you have the fuel and vacuum lines hooked up too.

its a rare event but i have seen both the float and the fuel valve fail which would let all the gas in the tank flow into the engine and fill the crankcase with gas. saw this on a SYM Fiddle II a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the information...... I checked the vacuum on the fuel valve below the tank and got some gas in the vacuum line... this would indicate that gas is leaking past the valve into the vacuum line and then going into the intake... i'm still not sure how it would get past the spark plug firing and the rings on the piston to reach the crankcase... there must be another bypass to the crankcase..... WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO ORDER A NEW FUEL VALVE??? Thanks,,,ray

its flowing in there when the engine is off, not while running.

I would have to agree with Fox. I recently had a similar thing happen to my 150cc scoot. Thank god I caught it before I decided to hit the start button. My cylinder and exhaust was completely full of gas. When I went to back the scoot up I saw gas come out of my exhaust pipe and said "UH DUH NOW THIS IS NOT RIGHT" I replaced my vacuum petcock and flushed out the motor and pulled the exhaust and did a oil change and now all is back to being good. Go with what Fox is saying.

when i said 'in there' i meant into the crankcase
gasoline is not flowing into the crankcase while running...unless its taking a magical route past combustion.

Make sure to replace all your fuel and vacuum lines while you are at it. A blocked or pinched vacuum line can cause a petcock to stay open.
