I saw your YouTube video on your case cutter. Pretty sweet. I bet you could reverse polarity on your drill press to make it run backwards and then you could use your jig on the press which would probably make it a little easier and faster. How much do you charge for a case cut? Sorry, had to ask. Brendan I'm not really interested in cutting cases for other people. Doesn't seem very cost efficient shipping cases back and forth. Might as well take 'em to a local machinist at that rate, or put the money into making your own since detailed plans are all up. I may consider lending the tool out for a small fee. Not really sure what I'm doing at this point. That's better discussed in the thread about the tool.

I rode to h2oi yesterday. I can't say I enjoy the cars nearly as much as I do at the hot rod shows, but there's some cool stuff around. It's pretty fun, and I think T2 fits in better there than any other show that I go to because there's plenty of other sorta misfit stuff around. It seemed like more small crowds on sidewalks than I see at the hot rod shows. Quite a few people reaching out for high fives as I passed in the daytime. I got 2 or 3 of them. Totally missed on one, but I'm not reaching out and slapping other people. It's silly, but kinda entertaining I suppose, especially when done right in front of a cop. I rolled past many more without response. Don't think they realize it will hurt when I'm doing 30+. I made crowds cheer on at least a few occasions, but I'll save the whys till I get a video done. As usual, disappointed everyone that wanted to see a wheelie. lol
The whole idea of going to try to race some hopped up Rucks or Groms was a bust. I saw a couple of groups of Groms, but always going the opposite way or stopped in a parking lot. I saw some Rucks, but again going the other way or stopped. I'm not outgoing enough to roll up to a group in a parking lot and ask them to race, so I rely on catching them at red lights. I did manage to find one lowered, 150 powered, Ruck going my way. I sped up behind him and he immediately turned off into a parking lot. Damn. I raced a whole group of rentals, blew past more rentals, and saw a rental doing ridiculous riding. I had a couple of scoots behind me with side by side round headlights, but I'm not sure if they were Zumas or Rucks. They wouldn't pull up beside me when I gave them lots of room. Whatever they were, they didn't keep up. Don't even know if they tried. Saw a couple of mopeds. They also didn't keep up.
The show seemed to live up to the title that some have given it as the most ticketed car show. There were constantly cops pulling people over, usually in the bus lane where I ride so I had to get in and out of traffic. I watched a group of motorcycle cops pull away from one stop and literally a few seconds later initiate another. Thankfully, no tickets for me.
I rode 11 hours, with something like 30-45 minutes off of the scooter for gas and camera battery/card changes. (Charging up 20 batteries and transferring 5 cards to PC ATM from helmet and rear cams.) 261.6 miles total, with an average of 41.97MPG. As usual, T2 sounded like it was falling apart all day/night... but it kept on taking the abuse of me leaving most lights WOT. I have to say the last 2 hours of the ride (going home) were miserable and I wanted them over. It was in the 50s by then and I didn't have enough gear to be warm. I carried a flannel and better gloves tied to my frame brace, but it wasn't enough. After 9 hours of riding being either on the edge of comfortable or a little chilly, 50-something degrees for a couple of hours is a lot. Add in stiffening up and hurting from the amount of time on the scoot and feeling kinda crappy because I had only eaten a sandwich at 5AM that day and came home at midnight, and by the time I was filling up for the last time it took me a few tries to even get a kick on the starter good enough to fire it. Felt like I was about 90 years old by the time I was home. After 5 hours of sleep, now I only feel 70.
I'll get a video up eventually, but it'll be at least days from now. I've already got a lot of video to go through, and I may torture my body more to add some additional footage today/tonight. Have to see how I feel later. I'm sad that I didn't get to play with any hopped up scoots or groms. I have a feeling I'd get whooped by a Grom or even a decent Ruck 150 based swap, but I'm game to find out. To date, I've only raced 1 150 powered Ruckus ever and he was a guy my size so he was left behind without the weight advantage that most have on me. I may end up repeating some of what I've said in the video. Not really sure if I'll voice-over it at all or just put up clips, so my apologies in advance just in case I do repeat myself.

I left at 2PM yesterday and the high temp was 65 with plenty of wind. I put the liner in my jacket and wore long johns under my pants this time so I wouldn't be so miserable after dark. I got to the beach sometime around 4PM. As soon as I turned in, I saw a tricked out Ruckus ahead of me. "Jackpot!", I thought. Well, he was too busy trying to ride with a Civic. He took off from a roll and looked back, I assume expecting me to not be there, but I was. I was really hoping to get him at a light, but he avoided that by hanging around with the car that was stuck in traffic. I think it would have been a fun race, because it was pretty much dead even when we both sped up while moving. I swear, I can't buy a race with a scoot that's got much gusto.
I saw 2 more hopped up Rucks, but they were sitting in traffic. I slowed down and revved/accelerated beside them, hoping to taunt them into getting in the scooter/bike/bus lane. They were tagged as motorcycles though. I guess I could have sat in traffic with them, but I was already tired of traffic. Half of the town was gridlock. That would be fine with me, but since it's so bad the cops were riding around in the bus lane. Then I'd get behind a bus. Didn't want to lane split because it's not legal and I don't really know if the cops care about scooters going around the bus. Traffic was so backed up that even if I could catch a red light beside cars, they couldn't go anywhere so there was no point of taking off. At one intersection I watched 4 cops doing U-turns at the light and I knew there was at least one behind me... and that's just at one intersection of however many there are in something like 150 streets down the strip. Police were everywhere.
Luckily not the whole town was gridlock. I sat at one light and had scooters pull up on both sides of me in the lane. The one on the right just rolled up and said "You're trash". Kids. The appropriate action would have probably been to kick him off of his scooter and then body slam his scooter on top of him, but I chose leaving them some 2T smoke to inhale while they watched me disappear.
One section of the strip in one direction was a sea of people wanting high fives. It's fun at first, but that gets old to me. I don't know when this became a thing. Hopefully it dies off.
I did 2 loops around the strip and contemplated more or heading home when I stopped to change batteries in the cams. I really enjoy the clearer sections with red lights, but the gridlocked area with cops in the bus lane and motorcycle cops doing weird things in traffic annoyed the heck out of me, plus knowing every lap was going to be more high fives, plus only seeing a few nice Rucks that had no desire to race, plus assuming I'd end up in trouble if I did burnouts because of the police presence, plus the cops were shutting down parking lots so no one could hang out there and encourages races and burnouts and 2-stepping that's popular at H2Oi, plus hurting from the day before.... it didn't seem worth continuing to ride there and going home later when it was even colder. I assumed the gridlock would likely only get worse till very late anyway.
While in the left turn lane at a red light in another town on the way home, a Harley or at least some sort of cruiser/bagger pulled up behind me. I, of course, took off around the turn WOT the instant the light turned green and left the big bike behind. I guess they enjoyed that, because when I pulled into the shoulder later and cruised 40MPH, they passed and tooted the horn and the woman on the back gave me a thumbs up.
T2 seemed a little lean for the colder weather. I stopped and put a piece of electrical tape just barely across the opening for the airbox on the way down, and that was enough to eliminate the little bit of spark knock I heard on occasion at some throttle positions or roll off. It ran pretty strong that way. Actually did a little power wheelie (prob only an inch off the ground) when I was just trying to rev it at scoots in front of me at one point. On the last few miles before home, I ran it WOT against the wind doing 55MPH, then let off when it started to knock. I cruised in the mid 40s till a bike came up behind me on a hill. I went WOT again and it started knocking at the end of the hill, which happened to end in a 30MPH zone before town. It's definitely going to need more fuel for the colder weather, but for all I know next weekend may be in the 80s again for the hot rod show.
I haven't even checked how many miles it was or the fuel mileage yet. Prob something shy of 200 miles I'm guessing. EDIT : 172 miles. It averaged 44MPG on the way down with the wind. 37MPG on the way back against the wind.

I found a vid from H2Oi today with me in it, but they weren't paying attention to me and the phone camera work was lousy. You could just see my helmet above a car all the way across the 8 lanes of Coastal Highway. The light turned green and when they glanced back over I was gone out of frame and the cars were still leaving the light. lol The hot rod show starts tomorrow. My plans to prep T2 are to fill the tank and to refill my 2T oil containers and otherwise to cross my fingers. (EDIT : Wait, I'll check the tire pressures and my lights too. Safety first.) I doubt I'll go tomorrow unless I take the TMAX and go early. Not sure. The weather looks good for this show (upper 70s day, low 60s night). Might get to wear T2's back tire out a little more.

Glad youve got a heavy duty CVT setup, each start from a stoplight in your vids looks like a staged start in the 1/8 mile drags!!

Glad youve got a heavy duty CVT setup, each start from a stoplight in your vids looks like a staged start in the 1/8 mile drags!! If I can't beat on it, it's of little use to me. It was basically 7 hours of leaving every light like that just on Friday, aside from when I had police beside me. Even then, I took off with a state trooper beside me and OCPD behind me once so I could get in front of the trooper to avoid a pull over in the bus lane. All of the people that have told me that OR kits don't work on low revving junk like I ride, aren't out here riding 500 miles some weekends. Also, not sure why so many people want to do clutch upgrades to mild stuff. You can see how I'm leaving repeatedly, and remember the scoot is hauling 300lb on top of it. The clutch will probably blow apart tomorrow now that I've spoken highly of it after years of this kind of use.
