I guess I should throw in here, almost forgot it myself, that I have the HOCA alternator with more coils. Kinda wanted the little flywheel on this, as I am thinking I may end up with the Peace Pipe if numbers work out and I like the added responsiveness. Don't see why it shouldn't be the same idea either way, just with varying amounts of output. www.partsforscooters.com/90cc_Minarelli_spark_kit_169-118

I think I'm gonna float the ground and do the whole DC conversion with the Trail Tech regulator/rectifier and run the lights off of the battery. The Trail Tech regulator makes it really easy to power lights only when the engine is running with an output just for that. It's more work than just putting a bridge rectifier and capacitor in the lighting system, but it makes more sense and involves less parts. I don't use a carb with an enricher running off of the lighting output and never included that when I built the harness for this scoot, so that makes it even simpler still. All that I have running on the lighting circuit is the lighting and that all goes through the headlight switch. It also gives me a quality rec/reg for the entire system and may provide more charging power than the standard setup. Treatland.tv is doing a 22% off sale till Valentine's Day and they carry a Trail Tech reg/rec for $55 so it can be had for just over $40 plus shipping. I noticed their ad says 7003-rr150 even though the URL shows 7004-rr150, so I contacted them to make sure I'm getting what I think I am before I place the order. www.treatland.tv/trail-tech-DC-voltage-regulator-rectifier-150w-p/trail-tech-reg-rec-7004-rr150.htmEDIT : They got back to me really quickly and said it is the 7004-RR150 and updated the site, so it's ordered.

The regulator came in today. I guess they were in the Valentine's spirit at treatland, since it came in Victoria's Secret packing tape. lol Also gave up on the Top Performance water pump. I saw PFS doing 14% off so I cancelled the pump from scootertuning.ca (they were very easy to deal with) and ordered the HOCA.

I think a new front brake hose needs to be on my to-do list. Anyone know where to get a dust cover like these? 26mm stanchion tube, 45mm on the slider. All I can find so far are THESE big ugly dirtbike style that may work.

Allballs 57-133 looks to be a pretty close fit at 26mm x 42.6mm if those dimensions are accurate a heat gun might get it to fit... I’d email allballs directly to verify but I found the dimensions listed here. www.amazon.ca/All-Balls-57-133-Fork-Dust/dp/B01BOZGGNOOtherwise I think the 80’s small singles may be in the size range your looking for. I searched 26mm fork seal and found some results pointing in that direction. Not many list the lower dimension of the lower wiper seal.

My Treats arrived the same way. I g0t a Malossi 2018 calendar, in Italian Quick question, did the water pump housing include the flywheel drive pins ?

A sort of off topic depressing bit : My absolute deadline for getting this all done is a little before the Cruisin' Ocean City, MD car show in May. It's no secret if you follow my posts or vids that the car shows in OC are my favorite things all year. Ever since H2Oi last year that was kinda wild, people in OC have been complaining about car shows. Too loud, unsafe, etc... Just saw on the news that there's now a bill in Annapolis that would allow Ocean City to declare a "special events zone" that works sort of like a work zone. That would let them increase fines for infractions, but worse than that points on your driver's license. It hasn't been made clear how much control they will have over points and fines or what they'll be. When you consider that they have reportedly given some people reckless driving fines for big burnouts, that's a 6 point infraction under normal conditions. If they think you're participating in a race, that's already 5 points. At 8-11 points you get a notice of suspension. At 12 points you get a notice of revocation. I know the fines would be huge for this stuff, but that won't compare to the insurance costs for years and possibly being without a license if they are allowed to change the points structure too. They won't just turn the shows away, because they fill every hotel room, bar, restaurant, etc... in the off season before and after Memorial Day and Labor Day. The huge fines would total up to a fortune for them this way, since they have 5 agencies constantly pulling people over via cars, trucks, motorcycles, horseback, bicycles, or on foot all around town. Other thoughts they've put out in the past are to ruin the unoffical event (the cruising up and down the strip that most actually go to shows for) by closing lanes to make the entire city a gigantic traffic jam. It's already bad with all lanes open. Seems like they'd be punishing the locals too at that rate, but some say it's worth it to put an end to it. I realize the streets aren't supposed to be for this stuff, but judging by the crowds I'm not the only one that loves it. Sucks even more when they don't mention some of the crazy stuff the cops do there to catch people or the cop that struck a pedestrian at an event last year and so on. Sorry for the rant, but the show in May was what I expected to be the 1st long ride on T2 if all went well. Who knows if it will even be worth going to now or if I'll be dumb enough to do a burnout on the scoot anymore (at the shows... you know I won't stop otherwise ).

How come you're using a crank-driven water pump instead of an electric water pump? Less voltage/wattage use or more flow or something?

I know the e-pumps are the choice for all the high end builds, but I was concerned about the 8-12 hour straight rides that I take multiple times each year. If I ended up draining the battery even a small amount with the headlights and pump, it could be a problem in that time period. I was running 100W of lights, now I'm gonna be switching to more like 50W and I'll be going to full wave hopefully... but I'm also most likely running a small flywheel and stator (HOCA). The mechanically driven pump seemed to leave me with the least question marks. The main negative I hear about them that applies to me is the possibility of leaks being sorta high. They take up some power and are not great for high revs and probably slow the response much like a larger/heavier flywheel would, but I don't think I'll see much more than 10,500RPM with any regularity.
If it turns out that the mechanical pump sucks, at least it shouldn't be terribly difficult to swap and see if electrical works for me.

It's getting harder, and harder to find venues for these type of events now. My favourite custom show has moved a few times over the last fifteen years. Mainly for noise complaints. It was held on military grounds a couple of miles from anywhere. Yet still had complaints. The last year it was in Aldershot they even stopped the live music. It's found a new home the last few years at the top gear test track. Which they are trying to build on. 😢

I've been collecting parts for this thing for about 6 months now, and it's getting ridiculous. Doing an LC conversion turned into all sorts of other things while it's gonna be apart for a while. Had no intention of spending much on this, and then I'd sell it to myself by saying... well, you haven't given T2 much attention other than engine swaps for many years now... or... it looks like I'm not willing to give up even 1 of my regular scoots for a sport bike and can't afford their insurance so spend a few bucks on your favorite scoot instead to improve it... or any number of other excuses. The stuff to do a new wiring harness alone is silly. Now that I have it, I'm not sure that weather pack was the best choice, but I own it. The weather pack stuff is sealed and supports wires small to large, but because you can run 10ga wires through it, the connectors are kinda hefty. T2 already has a harness that I built from scratch something like 7-8 years ago, but I used connectors to match stock Chinese components and the wire that I used was cheap and not as flexible as I'd like. This is all GXL and I got wires with tracers that cost a little extra too, just to make life easier in any future work to it. I have a sealed fuse box as well, thinking it may again eliminate headaches someday if I can separate a few circuits and still have the fuses in one spot. Before I ordered wires and connectors and such, I made a wiring diagram up of the new from scratch harness. That way I didn't have to order any more than I'd need to be prepared. The fuse shown at the batt may be wrong. I may just put it in the fuse box, because I think it will be right by the battery. Not really sure where some electronics will go and won't be till I get farther in. I'm not even bothering with e-start wiring. Been kicking it for years now because of the OR CVT and I like the OR so much that I have no plans of going back to e-start. Click for full size.
A lot of the reason for the new harness is the sealed connectors. Last time I was in a lot of rain, T2 didn't treat me too well. Not sure how much was electrical for sure, but this can't hurt. Ordered a KOSO sealed turn signal flasher too, because even with fog or mist my current relay will constantly tick till it's totally dry. Signals still work, but that can't be a good thing and it's worth the $15 to not hear it clicking and wonder if my signals will fail one day because of it. Don't need to get hit because some car didn't see a signal or provide more reasons to get pulled over and have the scoot checked out. Will be ditching my 2 headlight switches and replacing the left side control to use it now for high/low beam. Old stock switch quit working a couple of years ago and couldn't do all I wanted with 2 separate headlights. Now I'll just have 1 light. I think I may actually go back to a keyed ignition switch too. I needed a new fuel cap anyway (it's been a miracle it hasn't fell apart on me at a gas station yet) so the whole lock set was hardly any more money. I've been using the kill switch for ignition and a toggle switch for electrical. Basically you could have walked up to T2 and flipped 2 switches and fired it up. Would be nice to be able to have at least the slightest amount of security if I leave it for a few minutes. Security on such a naked scoot is a bit of an illusion if anyone knows scoot electrical much, short of chaining it to things and so on. Not certain I'll use a 12V outlet anymore. Don't really use the GPS that much on this scoot now. Prob will in the future. I'd like something totally sealed on both sides and the marine unit doesn't quite cut it there. Thinking it may be worth just getting a 12V outlet setup to connect to the battery when needed. Not really a big deal to run a cable up to the GPS for a ride as needed. Not sure. May depend just how cramped for space it gets around the front panel once I have radiators. I got those fork dust seals in and then cleaned my forks and realized I've never done anything but replace the fluid in them probably 9 years ago, and the forks are original from 2004. No signs of leaks or any trouble, but I picked up seals too. Lots of little stuff like that to do. It all adds up when you ignore a bike for so long. I just threw more into the pile this morning. I've wanted to upgrade the front brake for a long time. It works OK stock, but being near 300lb and riding at 50MPH and above so much, the brakes certainly could use a little upgrade. Getting used to how good the big dual front discs are on the TMAX didn't dissuade me either. Not sure how much it will accomplish, but for $86 total ($4 off for first time using AliExpress) I couldn't resist. I started out finding an Adelin 220mm disc for $50 shipped on eBay, then the RPM caliper for $56 and and Adelin bracket for a Zuma (was unsure about bolt spacing though) at scootertuning.ca. That would end up $150 or so with shipping, and I wasn't sure if it was worth it to me. $86 convinced me to try. Hopefully my first experience with AliExpress is a good one. The stock disc is about 180mm and this is 220mm, so it should at least give a little more leverage. Not sure if the bracket will work or not. It does match up to my bolt spacing on the fork (43mm). It looks like spacers can be used to move the caliper in or out, so hopefully it'll do the trick. www.aliexpress.com/item/RPM-Brand-14-Styles-Universal-CNC-Motorcycle-Fork-Brake-Calipers-Brake-Pumps-Brake-Caliper-Adapter-Bracket/32689733358.htmlI haven't spent a lot of time on the scooter since it was stripped down. Took a while to clean all of the grease and grime off of the frame and I've still got other parts to clean. Mostly been trying to figure out what I "need". So yeah, I'll probably just create a more expensive piece of junk when all is said and done. Most likely it will have an electrical fire, but chances are high of a coolant leak somewhere so that may put it out, just before parts fly out of the engine and CVT and the wheels fall off. lol
