The speedometer should be fixed. No road test in the rain this morning, but I put a few layers of Gorilla Tape between 2 layers of 3M double-sided tape on the sender. That moved it closer to the magnet on the wheel and it seems to be picking it up alright now, just rotating the wheel on the bench.

Just reading up on the BS about Ocean City's "Special Event Zone". Just a refresher for those that don't recall me complaining before; they lower the speed limit and raise fines and bring in tons of cops. They only put it in place during car shows. Recently they wanted to make it "better". Through this stricter bill, a person convicted of any of the following violations within a special event zone can be fined up to $1,000:
driving a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding the posted speed limit negligent driving driving a motor vehicle in a race or speed contest that does not result in serious bodily injury to another person skidding, spinning of wheels or causing excessive noiseI assumed that the bill would pass, but I just read that it didn't. Nice... except people already got $1,000 burnout tickets last year according to some videos. Hmmmm. www.delmarvanow.com/story/news/local/maryland/2019/03/15/ocean-city-special-event-zone-stricter-bill-shut-down-lawmakers/3160771002/Now I wonder if I can even do a burnout with my leg still weak. May just have to settle for crappy little wheelies and trying to race everyone if I can make it. Car show starts Thur BTW and I have still only been 1/4 mile. 50s and rain tomorrow too. Maybe I'll be able to see what's up on Tue. Even then, I have to hope nothing is too bad or I'll miss this one and have to wait till Sep/Oct.

It worked so well last year. Still had that bad car crash eh? Look on the bright side. Does not say anything about wheelies 😉

You been working on your tig skills, NICE!

Actually this was with my Hobart 140 mig using CO, Co gives me better results then argon mix. If I had a third had I would tig these up but it’s much easier to just use my mig since I seem to have less time anymore. You may see more of these around...

I rode about 10 miles on T2 this morning. Seems to run basically like it did before. Takes off well. Goes about 60MPH with me sitting up at just over 10,000RPM. It's in the 50s (temp) and the weekend will be 20-30F warmer according to the forecast, so I'm not real motivated to double check the jetting ATM. It does have a lean spot somewhere in there where I get knock as I transition, but I think it was like that before and I either had that or weaker throttle response with whatever I tried.
The front brake rotor is warped. It doesn't really bug me when riding, but I can tell sometimes when I hit the brake. If I lift the wheel and turn it, it's free and then kinda tough to rotate and then free and then kinda tough. I ordered an Adelin 220mm disc from China for ~$40, but it will take somewhere between a week and a month according to the estimate.
The speedometer got wacky on me at one point. It showed speed fine. Then I was holding it 50+MPH and the speed dropped back to 50-15MPH. Slowed down for town and it was fine again. I'll try to get the sensor still closer to the magnet on the wheel later today and see if that does anything.
T2 still feels weird... but I think it just is weird. It has been about 7.5 months since the crash and for the last 5-6 months I've exclusively been on the TMAX. That's such a solid and stable scoot compared to T2, and something designed to go 100MPH instead of 40MPH. Right now, T2 feels sketchy. Feels super light to steer, so I go to countersteer and it feels like it's gonna fall over. Not nearly the stability in turns, but I know that's normal. Feels like the hbars and seat are getting closer together when I brake hard. I remember feeling that when I had no frame brace and then feeling how much it changed to the point that I thought it was fairly solid after. Nothing seems to be wrong with the brace or mounts. Again, I think when you ride something so much more solid and better designed exclusively for an extended period that it makes the small scooters feel unsafe. I had a friend that rode only big bikes and we put him on a 2ft tall midbike that would do 50-60MPH years ago. He came back saying that thing was terrifying and then got on his sportbike and buzzed that house at who knows which 3 digits. I get it now.
The water pump coupler still hasn't blown off any appendages or made any noticeable change in vibrations. I did overfill the system I guess, because it filled the reservoir and then spit some out that I had to clean up. Hopefully good to go now.
Coolant temp was sticking around 130-140 for the ride, 159 max when shut down. CHT was just over 300F at the highest that I noticed while riding. Charging at 14.2V @ idle with the headlight off at least. I think it was 13.X with it on.

Do you think the bent frame brace is a clue to something? I kinda feel like something happened there.

Do you think the bent frame brace is a clue to something? I kinda feel like something happened there. I dunno. That makes sense, but then when it was installed everything aligned perfectly. I don't mean I wrestled the bolts in. I mean they went in just like they always have. The top sits on a half-circle shelf and the back sits in a full circle mount in the frame. Both are more at least 1/8" wall thickness steel. My thought is that something should at least be out of alignment there if it had been put under great enough stress to bend the 1" solid bar so it has prob always been like that and I just never paid it much mind because I hadn't rammed the scooter into anything. If any of my other 4 small scooters ran, I could prob just take a quick ride and be like "oh yeah, this sucks too" or "uh-oh". It doesn't feel like it's gonna break when the front end comes down and doesn't feel strange when it pulls it up. Doesn't seem to handle bumps any worse than before. I didn't notice any issues getting the front end back together with the new steering stem. The only other potential sign I have noticed that something could be off is that the new leg shield didn't fit exactly like the old one. It's close though, and we're talking about plastic that was 15-16 years old and original to the scoot vs brand new plastic from who knows what manufacturer. I've already went through ordering a floorboard for a Triton that was made for a huge battery and wouldn't even fit the frame and another leg shield that couldn't take any bending and just snapped, so my assumption is that the panel just isn't perfect relative to the original. Again, it's pretty darn close though.

Do you still have another Triton? You could get a measurement from the stem to seat mount or any point that’s still original and see how much of a difference there is, if any. Any possibility the relation of bars to stem and fork legs are off? Or a wonky wheel bearing.

I've put another 25 or so miles on it. I think the problem is me. I started to get more used to it. It stops well and goes straight and all of that. Basically most of the reasons that these things feel like so much fun are kinda concerning at first when you step away for so long. I do still have T1 in the corner if it bugs me. I took 2 rides. The first time was after I go the speed sensor right up on the magnet. Any closer and it would have rubbed. That made it worse. I did get to rev it at a cop pulled over looking at an irrigation pump for some reason though. lol At one point I looked down and the temp light was on and it said coolant was 160 and in seconds it shot up to over 190. I thought "oh crap, the pin in the coupler broke or something failed" and spun around. By the time I turned around it was back to 130. I turned back around and never had anymore trouble. Made me wonder if the Vapor had messed up somehow from the crash. I went in and looked up instructions before I did anything else, because I couldn't remember for sure with this one but I knew that some of these want a pretty particular placement. The install guide said within 1/2", which I definitely had covered, and they wanted the center of the magnet to line up with the edge of the sensor. I went back out and switched it around as Trail Tech advised. I took another ride and it worked fine. Just gotta be smart enough to read directions sometimes.

Same brace? This one looks straight. Dude, you hit that deer effin hard. I am not saying anything is wrong with the scoot, rather pointing out how much of an impact there was. I am sure your bones know that though. I bet the frame would have folded without that brace.

Same one. My question would be; will it matter practically if the frame is bent a little? Maybe it won't have good alignment front and rear and won't track stratight? Don't really think scoots get many tank slappers. T2 has always worn the rear tire to one side though, so most likely it has had alignment issues for all of the miles I've put on it. Am I at great risk of the frame deciding to break? I'm guessing no on that one.
