I ordered the kevlar 788 from PFS. $45 shipped and I know it'll get here quick. Can't find info on the Malossi and Polini belts and I know 788 17 28 works well for me so I'll stick with what I know. Thanks for the suggestion guys. I've got my fingers crossed.

And if it grips like it should, you don't have to worry about slipping either!

I got the Kevlar in today from PartsForScooters. I haven't cleaned anything yet, just got it disassembled. Here's all that's left of the belt. I wouldn't call this broken or snapped, but rather slaughtered. The largest piece found is next to the 25mm long bolt. I like to mark the variator, but this is ridiculous. It's murdering the variator too. Killing the little little bushings and battering the aluminum guides for the ramp plate.

You've got so much power it eats belts for breakfast! :burnout: Better than cylinders like mine

I think both cases suck. The money is bad enough for me with replacing belts. I won't (can't) keep that up. Not to mention I've had them lock the tire up before... at 50 or so... the idea of the tire locking at 70 does worry me a bit more. On top of that, much like your case, the thing is really fun when it's working right. That makes it suck even more when it's not.

If it continues I'd be tempted to look at modding the pipe to make the ''hit'' more gradual, less stress on the CVT. It's not just me that thinks ''what would happen to me if it seized/locked up'' when I'm pushing for top speed then I'm amazed you managed to batter the vari guides so much, I haven't managed that and I've locked it up to a dead stop at 12.5k rpm when the conrod exploded, which also sheared the drive face and woodruff key.

Not one time have I been tucked down at above 65MPH and not thought, "this is gonna end up killing me". It's not like belt snaps are uncommon on this thing. Did 2 in 1 mile at one point. I'm still looking forward to catching a hill and a strong tailwind to see if I can cheat it faster, just to see what it's like. I know already that 70MPH on a scoot that sits level is scary on corners. Wonder what 75 will feel like? lol We're having bad storms come through and 40MPH wind gusts and all I can think is "how fast could I go with that?" I beat up a lot of variators that way on my 90s.

Hope the Kevlar holds up better for you!

That thing is eating the entire CVT system!Would a stronger TD spring clamp the belt tighter to reduce slippage?Surely we're missing something here.. :stumped:

I got the belt on last night. Took it for a short ride today. Just went easy on it for the most part. I went WOT once leaving my driveway and it still slips a bit. Cruised between 35 and 50MPH most of the time. Got up to 60 and almost WOT sitting up against a slight headwind for maybe 1/2 mile right before my house. Just 8 miles. And here's how my new belt looks after that little trip. I never measured it, but before I put it on I compared it to the Bando and it was easily 1mm wider or more. Now it's the same width.

Geez. That's how my kevlar looked after the first run too, but after I measured it, it was still exactly the same as when I got it. Even 2 months later it was the same as when I bought it. And yours chewed off 1mm in an 8 mile run?! I think you might have a shark or something in your cylinder that has an appetite for belts!

Maybe it's just getting broken in. lol If it'll only knock off a mm every 8 miles and not shred, I should have a solid 16-24 miles left in it! WOOT! You know, people like to joke about watching their gas gauge go down... at the rate these belts are going and at up to $45... you could damn near watch my money burn off by the mile. I need my odometer to make a "cha-ching" noise every mile.
