A quick test confirms there is no spark. Tried another plug, but of course I can't get that lucky. You'd think I would have noticed that the tach never moved when I kicked it over.

Found this on SA Brent: ''Malossi usually offers excellent and well thought-out tuning parts. Unfortunately, the Kevlar fibres lead to a slipping of the drive belt especially when starting up the engine, when the transmission ratio is very low and a lot of force gets transmitted onto the rear pulleys. Using a stronger contra spring and readjusting the vario is essential. Nevertheless, this is a very resistant and tear proof belt, which is important for highly tuned engines.'' www.scooter-attack.com/shop/#!/en/Gilera/Runner-SP-50-as-from-08-2005/Variators/Drive-Belts-Midrace/M6114118-Drive-belt-Malossi-Kevlar.html

Thanks. Like I said earlier though, I'd need to figure out what's stronger than what I have. The trans will be a real PITA to put a belt on with anything stronger, but that's better than going through belt after belt.

I think the pick-up or coil went in that one. I just watched the vid and it was running well before the ignition acted up. Gotta feel good to pass a car at highway speeds!

The ignition problem turned out to be a busted stator plate. The plate broke where the pickup mounts thousands of miles ago on T2 and I JB Welded it. I replaced it this time. I know I have spark now. Just need to tie up some wires and what not and it should start again. I wanted to try a lighter ignition, I just didn't wanna try to pay for it so it's a stock replacement. I got a package today. Gee, I wonder who this could be from. lol 190mech must be bored. This is John's Phase 2 103 pipe that he's loaning me for a little testing. This thing is beautiful. Thanks John.

So it seems kevlar belts turn to cotton candy in this motor... I made it all of 4.5 miles.

I was doing about 60 at the time and it looked like a cloud behind be from all of the kevlar kandy flying out of the CVT vents. When I checked it before the belt failed there were no signs of anything wrong that I could see. After it breaks there are marks like it was slipping and stuff, but that could all happen postmortem.
