I meant to post this much sooner but I haven't had the chance. A quick synopsis though.
Sometime last week I installed my Naraku High Speed Variator and drive pulley. Went from cruising speed of 36-38mph to cruising speed of 40-42mph. Going uphills didn't improve nearly as much. Went from max speed of 46-47mph at 10,500rpm to 52mph at about 8,800rpm. Also kept similar [slightly improved] acceleration with a bonus of keeping rpms much lower.
A few days ago I installed my Stage6 Pro Replica pipe and 18mm Mikuni carb. HUGE difference. Acceleration is significantly quicker and plus it sounds better. Has a 72.5 jet and appears to be running slightly rich with oil/gas splatters on the side of the exhaust. Also need to move the gasket a bit. I think it has a slight exhaust leak. Taped off [but not removed] the EGR hose. Thinking of opening it up to retain stock air box but increase airflow. Almost definite upjet following. I also think the carb is not tuned correctly yet due to gas mileage. Mileage from stock [75-80mpg] dropped to about 55mpg. I understand the higher speeds and bonus acceleration takes it down, but 20mpg?
Huge speed gains from pipe :] It has no restriction and hits about 9,000rpm which according to the tech page is still 1,500rpm below peak power output. Due to the high speed variator maybe the powerband dropped? Either way, cruising speed is 49-51mph with proportionately better hill climbing. Still need to install my "medium" Stage6 torque spring. Trying to locate a band wrench big enough to fit my clutch, which is approximately 4.25-4.5in in diameter. Max speed that I'm seen on GPS is 54mph but I've gotten the needle further than that when I wasn't able to use GPS. Estimated top speed I've reached is 56mph based on formula to correct my speedometer. Downhill of course Speeds seem to become slightly less inaccurate the faster I go. Max rpm still hasn't peaked 10,000rpm since the addition of the pipe.
