It fell onto the garage floor while I was removing the floor board and the plastic under the battery.

Can't tell the size of it by the pic, but it looks like a keeper/spacer that goes on the bolt that holds the handlebars in place where they bolt to the steering stem If it is.... don't ride till you fix it !! (dont want your bars coming off )

Shit, my mistake. This new camera my aunt gave me is such a POS. I need to get up to the store and pick a new one up. Oh well, hopefully you can still tell, if not - it's a quarter.

Judging from where it came from, It may be a spacer/rest that separates the floorboard from the frame tubes.

Look familiar ?? It could have fallen & made its way down the plastic to the floorboard area

Maybe it was dropped in there in the factory and rather than dig it out they left it in there and used another one on the bars.

I'd say it's worth taking a peek to be sure. Maybe just shine a light in the crack between the gauge cowling and the front fairing to see if the nut is on the handlebars.

I checked my bars to see if the nut was loose or missing. Everything was nice and tight. My bars don't attach like this one... They attach more like Brent's below. Like a clamp, I guess.
