hey guys i just recently had to purchase a new belt for my scooter because the old one broke, found a scooter place near by and got a 729 17.7 30 V Belt (I have a long case).
Im not quite sure if i am putting the belt on to the clutch properly. When i put the belt on i compressed the clutch all the way and just wedged the belt in there. After i put everything back together and started it up it wanted to take right off on me, the wheel was spinning even though it was on idle.
So this leads me to believe that i am not putting the belt on correctly. Can any one send me a link of a tutorial, or to a HOW TO VIDEO.
Or if any one can try to explain it to me, pics would help i would greatly appreciate it thanks!

Youtube is were I learned, good place. Check the weighs on the front pulley. When the belt breaks the weighs tend to shift.

i took off the clutch and the variator, cleaned everything with an air hose. Runs good now. I got a new belt i needed a 729 17.7 30 belt for my long case 12'' rims scooter. I think the belt needs to be broken in because the scooter does not go as fast as it used to

Yeah, a thinner, stretched out belt will usually make a scoot a little faster than a new one cause they will travel further in the pulley faces than a new one but once they get too thin and stretched they will lose speed and slap around all sloppy.

i have a question about the scrappy dog scooter 729 bando belt, I purchased one of these but the numbers on the belt are not 729, they are 723. I emailed them and said they sent me the wrong belt but they said the 723 belt is the 729 belt. I dont know how that makes any sense because the first numbers are the length of the belt im not sure if 6mm makes a differnce. Can any one shed some light on the subject?

They're not the same belt but after it gets broke in and stretches a little it might be a good thing. I can't say for sure but 6mm isn't a lot.
