hey guys i just picked up an 08 kymco agility 50. runs good but wont go over 40mph. It also doesnt sound like its reving up very high. Do these come stock with a some sort of rev limiter or something? even when i go down hill the scooter will like almost slow its self down so it wont go over 40mph. Also when i am going up hills it is very sluggish on steep inclines it will go like 10-15 mph. I know a 50cc engine should be working harder than that so what should i do? Obviously it needs a tune up but do you tthink the clutch or variator needs to be messed with? Any help is appreciated thanks!

Variator, CDI, make sure it's DC fired, and a good carb. Also the restricted factory exhaust could hold you back. There are two of the same scoots that hit my jack, they're great but need help in stock form. Also throw a cam in, I finally did and it's a different ride on the top end. Keep us posted!

as far as I know the Agility scoots from Kymco take DC fired CDIs, not sure on any other scoots of theirs. it's one of those things that get the blood pressure up when you go to order performance parts. I'm acutally putting in an order within the next week or two so I can get past this rev limiter that holds me back at basically 50mph. It's funny to me that I'm right under 160lbs, riding on a 50cc Kymco Agility that is stock other than the NCY 80cc cam I just installed, and I'm able to hit 50mph GPS verified from two different units. I'm seriously interested to get in and see the bore on this one, though I don't believe it's ever been touched. if it is in fact 39mm, I've got a lot to look at to see why mine is so different in acceleration and top speed as the newer one I work on also. The headlight being on constantly with the scoot running, and not having the option to turn it on when it's not, doesn't mean much. I've had cheap chinese scoots that were no name brands in both 2T and 4T that were like that.

I found this article helpful. www.scootertherapy.com/cdiboxcutpage.htmlYou take a dremel or some sort of electric tool to cut into the CDI box just a bit and it cuts through a wire that controls the rev limiter. Before i did this modd my scooter would literally not go over 40mph, even down hill. After the CDI modd i got up to 47mph on a slight decline. Im still going to order a No rev CDI from Monster Scooter Parts.
