thanks, but my standard lever does not have a switch. the bike was only manufactured with one on the left lever. this is not an issue of needing to replace the switch as there isnt one. i need to find an entire perch and lever assembly with a switch from a different model of scooter that also has cable operated brakes.

didnt see that assembly when i looked first time, however i require just the lever and perch not an assembly with switchgear on it.
i could try drilling a hole and fitting a universal switch like that. dont know if i would need a drill press to get through that thickness of metal? dont have a tap set to thread the hole either.
i have a couple of tomos mopeds that are in pieces in boxes, i went and had a look this morning and they have cable brakes with switches but the switches are broken or in bad condition. i think if i get a perch from one and put one of those switches in then fit the velofax lever to it. the throttle tube is attached on the tomos but i think itll come off.

The smaller of those switches doesn't thread in. Just need the right size hole.

I have found in my experience in life, that if you need a special tool for a job, like a drill press, or a tap and die set, is don't go and pay someone to do the job, just buy it yourself and do the job, then you will have those tools for the rest of your life.
You won't need a drill press for drilling through that metal though. Just have the drill running slowly, make sure your drill bit is sharp, and centre punch the hole before you start to drill.
you might have to keep an eye out on ebay or whatever you use in the UK to find a good deal on a drill press and a tap and die set. I have found that these tools have been very useful in my workshop.

The smaller of those switches doesn't thread in. Just need the right size hole. cheers i am in the uk so looking for uk based places to order from, i couldnt find that kind of switch i ordered a threaded one for now. how would you get an unthreaded one to stay in the hole?

I have found that these tools have been very useful in my workshop. cheers i usually find that too but dunno if i would need a drill press very often i can pick a tap and die set up locally but have never used one before i have a friend who is a car mechanic so can usually get him to help me with anything i cant do but i usually get by alright myself.

tap set? i saw a pretty good one in the local tool shop for not a bad price, seemed comprehensive enough too. although if my friend has one i might borrow his. or even get him to do it since i have never used one lol is it tricky to get right?

tapping is not hard to learn. the largest problem is starting the threads straight into the drilled hole. 2nd is drilling the right sized hole before tapping the threads. each bolt size has a specific drill size that matches. here is a tap drill size chart. www.boltdepot.com/fastener-information/Metric-Tap-Drill-Size.aspxgood luck.
