Well, I only have 50 miles on a bran new scoot and it seems to loose a bit of rpm, im barely getting 6000 rpm, that is if the tack is even correct, and just about 50mph,and it used to hit 60mph at about 7200 rpm,
I thought these scooters wer suposed to get faster once they break in?
The only thing I did was change the oil like everyone said to do as soon as you get the scooter, but I waited and ran the oil it came with for 50 miles, then changed it to the recommended 10w40,non synthetic.
Any thoughts would be appreciated, and I guess I just keep putting on some more miles for now and see what happens, if there's a problem I'm sure it will get worse, although I really don't want to damage anything, like I said it's bran new!
Wich leads me to another question, if I just bought it from saferholsaler. Com, WHY WOULD THE TITLE SAY ITS A 2008!I can't see this thing sitting in a factory for 4 years, it sure does look bran new, and it has 16 inch rims and abs front breaks. The model is a mc-150cc, however the title says the manufacturer is Wange. Kinda strange, and when I asked saferholsaler, they didn't have an answer, they said this scooter just came out and didn't even exist in 2008. Could I have gotten some rebuilt piece of crap. Besides the slight loss in power I really love the scoot and it is running great for now, but who knows how long it will stay this way.

The only thing I did was change the oil Usually it is a good idea to: Change the plug (from a no-name Chinese to a NGK) Adjust the valves (in the beginning, at 1000, and again at 5000) Check/change the fuel lines, add/replace the fuel filter with a quality one. Check/change the main jet. Look over the unit really closely for loose fasteners, checking (with a wrench) anything that could "get you" (motor mounts and front end). You can't rely on the tachometer to tell you much of anything with any accuracy. On a "new one", I would not run it too hard yet, 6-7000 should be your maximum for now. The date thing: These are imported from China. The "official" manufactured date, be it real, or imagined, corresponds to: The level of pollution control on the unit, and the pollution compliance certificate the manufacturer holds, an "ask no questions get told no lies" situation. It would not surprise me if there are containers full of Chinese scooters from 2008 lying around somewhere, would I worry if I bought one? No. Wange: www.wangyemotor.com/html/Corporate-Profile.asp

Thanks for your reply. The scooter actually came with an ngk plug, and even if the tach isn't accurate, it was reving higher on the gauge(almost 7k)and showing a bit more mph. It was hitting 58mph confirmed on GPS and the speedo was rite on the money Suprisingly! Now with 50 miles on it its barely hitting 50 at 500 rpms.
The only other thing is that the scooter was sitting for about a month and a half without running, so maybe some fresh gas would help
Wich leads me to another question, is it true that 93 octane would give you less power? I always assumed 93 should be ran in basically everything for better performance and the fact it's just a cleaner burning gas? WHAT OCTANE GAS WOULD YOU USE, Thanks again

I use a high octane, non ethenol when I can. Shell has a non ethenol 94. I use it in my small engines just to keep the inards in shape longer. Lawn mower, pressure washer, scooters. You can't believe what the sales guys tell ya, and don't expect any real help under any warranty. If they actually send you a replacement part? A miracle just happened.
When I bought my 2005, it had the name brand on the title "Baron", however when I bought the 2009, it was the factory name where it was made, thus, Wang. Maybe it was a better system for the DMV, as the same scooters made in the same factory were painted different colors and different stickers, but still the same thing.
Odd to be losing that much speed with only 50 miles on it. Though not tuned, 48 was my starting range GPS'd, had to do some modifications to get up to 58. Could be the valves need to be adjusted, could be you need to check out the belt and rollers. Those things usually take a lot longer to wear...
Could a faulty CDI cause the revs to limit to those RPMs? And yes, a new scooter can come with a bad part, and our Chinese scoots are notorious for that. Parts are not hard to find though.

Well i dug alittel further and when I pulled the spark plug out it's dry as a bone. It looks like it just came out of the box. I'm assuming this is a very lean condition? I have a 50cc taotao and had a similar problem but it was bogging out past 3/4 throttle. Anyway the taotao came with a sealed carb which I was told to replace and that and a larger main jet solved the problem. Dose anyone know what a 150cc main jet usually is, i have a few jets left over from messing with the taotao, I have a 90...92...and a 95,they should be able to screw into the 150cc carb rite? I was thinking of trying the 95 main as long as it looks bigger then the one that's in it now, I know some jets don't have a number incraved on them, so how would I know what jet is in it?
Also, it ran fine up till know, around 7k rpms and alot more power, like I said before, the scooter did sit for almost 2 months without running it so maybe once I take it apart and blow it out with some carb cleaner it will go back to normal?
Also, the plug should be a nice chocolate color correct?, or is it totally different with 4 strokes? Thanks very much, really want the scoots power back, I was very happy with it up till now, hopefully the carb if gummed up a bit,

As far as I know: the 50cc carb jets will not fit your 150cc carb. they are physically bigger.
A while back a bunch of us bought 150cc jets from an E-Bay guy (in Taiwan) for $6 shipping in, poke around the forum. (or ask Goosey) They come in individual numbered bags, they are not stamped.
The magic range seems to be 108-110 with the stock air cleaner. (most seem to come with 100's)
