So my scooter has been making alot of noise now, and it's coming from the transmission, I have taken out the cover and checked out if anything was broken into shreds and the pieces was just rolling around but when I opened it up it was fine. Everything was together and it looked normal. I saw online it might be the clutch bell but you guys be the judge :sos: Video will be shown soon

Can you rotate the wheel freely with the engine off? If yes, take off the cover, then wire up the starter bendix so it doesn't vibrate out and get caught in the variator drive face and then start the engine.

Allow you to start the motor with out the cover on, for you can see and hear better whats going

Ohh, I've taken out the cover before and held the starter "bendix" in place so it would not touch the variator drive face but I still do not see the source of this horrible noise. You guys think is something with the clutch bell assembly?

I say take the variator off and apart and see if there is excessive clearance between the drive boss and sliding pulley's mating brass bushing to start with. Should be virtually no play at all .

Yeah I've seen those variators wear out and get all sloppy on the drive boss a few times.
Do you have an impact wrench?

Yeah, Dave. I've seen one also and I think it was making a similar noise as kwv's is.

Thanks guys I will check that out as soon as I can get my hands on an impact wrench. I am sort of a noob so what would I do then if I find that there is is excessive clearance between the drive boss and sliding pulley's mating brass bushing?

Funny that you said that because I actually just recently changed the gearbox oil :thumb: . Surprisingly, there weren't any metal flakes. Still makes the noise. Yeah I knew what you meant by the pulley, I just wouldn't know what I would do if I find out that there is that excessive clearance that you were talking about

I think the easiest place too start is the variator. The clutch bell is easy enough to get off too but taking the clutch apart requires a big socket around 30 - 34mm as well as a means of holding pressure against a kind of strong large coil spring.

These parts are not real expensive. $35 or less probably.
