I'm seriously looking at the Kymco People GT 300i. Anyone have opinions on this scooter, good or bad? I could really use some feedback on the product if you have any info about it.

well here is the thing i see with kymco in gen
there dealer support is not that great
they have a bad habbit of sending the wrong part and lots of parts always seemed to be on back order
the quailty can be hit or miss get a bike from tiwian and its good get a bike from mainland china and the quailty is not up to par for the price at least that is what i have seen helping prep bikes
i wont go into some of the other issues related to there business habits that i am aware of from seeing at least 1 dealership drop them
as for just the scoot if preped properly from the dealership it is a nice riding scoot

www.justgottascoot.com/peoplegti300.htmThe Kymco 300i line offers real freeway capabilities (90 mph) while returning mileage in the 50 - 80 mpg range. Average over 60 mpg probably. The Downtown might offer better weather protection but I understand that it is cramped for those over 5'8". You might prefer the larger wheels and styling of the People though.

Kymcos are built a lot better than the China brands. The wiring harnesses are way better. They take more care in how they route the hoses and the wires too. They feel a little more solid than the China brands as well.
The down side is as stated above. Parts aren't as readily available locally as one would like and they cost more.

So, I went ahead and test rode the People GTi 300. What a rush! And the store does all the maintenance on it and parts ordering. This Kymco is amazing. Lots of power, great looks, comfortable and now MINE. Thanks for the opinions on this product. It was definitely factored into the decision.

I am new to scooters. i always wanted one but didn't know what to get. so i asked around and saw a lot of cheap ones but i was warned not to buy many of them because of so many problems. Today i took the advice of a friend of mine that works in a bike shop. I bought a kymco aglity 50. brand new 2014. cost $2003.94 not cheap but not expensive as some. i love it so far. nice features comes with 2 year warranty and so far i have 90km on it so still breaking it in.
what i found interesting about this scooter is that they sell it with extra parts. the dealer called it a hop up kit. it comes with a bigger air intake, sleeve for the variator that makes it go faster and the main jet. they told me to break it in first then put those on.
in the mean time it accelerates nicely up to 35mph then the rpm limiter engages and it won't go any faster not even down hill. I'm told that it engages at about 6k. I'm not sure as i don't have a tac but sounds about right. all in all its a nice scoot and can't wait to do some upgrades to see how fast it will go. in the mean time cruzin town @25mph since that's the speed limit.

sniper! Basically your scooter comes with a de-restriction kit it sounds like. I know some Kymcos have a drive boss that is larger in one spot so it won't let your front pulley close all the way. That means it can't push the drive belt up to get to higher speeds without over-revving. The air box must be restrictive as well I guess, and you'll need that larger jet for when you change the air box configuration. If it is indeed rev limited though, that would have to be elsewhere like the CDI, so if you install all of the parts they included and it doesn't go faster you may need to talk to them or look around for an unrestricted CDI. Enjoy your new scoot!

i found the unrestricted cdi and from what i understand it is limited to 6k but could be wrong. kymco's have dc cdi so it has to be a special one i guess cause most of them are ac. www.monsterscooterparts.com/no-rev-dc-cdi-kymco-agility-50.htmlthis one is for my kymco agility 50 so pretty sure it will work. once i get it to 200km it is due for its first service according to the manual so going to get the hop up kit installed and service done then. the sleeve may be for the drive boss. not sure i know he said that it won't let it shift all the way and that sleeve makes it all the same diameter so it can shift all the way. not real familiar with all the names of stuff yet. i was going to look at installing roller weights and the cdi after i find out what the hop up kit does to the performance. the guy at the store said that it would accel faster and have more top speed so it will be interesting to find out. 90gtvert love your project with the taotao great info. should i get rollers or slider? not sure what the weight of the stock ones are but what weight would be a good place to start 5g?

I think some people use DC CDIs from the GY6 engines that cost about a third of what that CDI does. It notes right on the site that 4T and 2T CDIs don't interchange because of timing, but I wonder if it's really much different or just a good way to make sure you buy a $50 CDI and not a $15 CDI?
5g sliders work well for many. I like sliders. They usually help performance a bit vs rollers tuned for similar RPM, but even without performance benefits I enjoy that they last longer (with the exception of some aftermarket variators that don't seem to like them from what I hear).

My thoughts – Kymco makes many models, so bashing or praising the entire line because of disappointment or satisfaction with a single model is unfair. Reading reviews and comparing for your self is what I suggest.
I have spoken to a dealer who has Vespa on his floor in Shelbyville, Indiana who recently took in a LIKE on trade with only 300 miles. Owner complained that the seat was too tall for the handlebars. Riders wrists hurt from leaning forward constantly. Keep in mind, this is one customer on one model.
