Well shes seen better days thats for sure . I dont know a whole lot about it yet, i just got it in late tonight. The owner had it stolen last year and the police found it in a park all tore up of course. Now the guy needs it so here we are. All i know so far is that its a 2006 and has a 139QMB motor, its in very sad shape, it needs a throttle, a battery and lots of love. This guy is on a tight budget so i wont be polishing the turd to a glaze or anything. I do want him to be impressed if i can because he is living in one of those halfway homes and allot of the people that stay there ride scooters . He said he thinks it needs a new coil because it doesnt have spark, but the battery is shot and the kickstarter is broke so im not sure how he cranked it over other than a big battery charger. I am just going to get it running good, do any de-restricting that might need done, change the oil, and maybe fix some of the cracks in the plastic. Thats about all he can afford for now, depending on what is wrong with it of course. Other than a bad case of ugly.

Its going to be interesting trying to get it up and running without racking up a big bill. The more i look the more i find thats messed up. I hate it when i get something to fix that everybody else has messed with, you never know what your getting into. Thats the way it is....

I'm afraid you will pretty much have to chalk this one up as a learning/advertising tool. IMO there's no way you can get this poor scooter back in shape for any "reasonable" amount of money. As it is the scooter is probably worth only $200-$250. If you had access to used parts on hand that's one thing. But new parts are going to add up fast forcing you to get very little for your labor. I suppose experience is worth something though. That scoot is identical to the one I used to have, although it may have a front disc whereas mine had a drum. I've seen these on eBay "Buy it Now" brand new from drop shippers for around $500-$600. If you can get this thing running and and back to him for less than $150 that will be a major accomplishment. At a minimum I see at least 8 hrs. labor.... probably more. I hope you prove me wrong!

I Agree with you. But im going to give it my best shot. It is for a friends nephew so i know one way of another the favor will be returned. I know these are pretty cheap scooters new, my uncle was going to buy one new. I talked him out of it and i found him his Kymco Cobra for $500 used. He loves it and it has been a great scooter to him. After he took a look at this one he was happy i talked him into buying the 2t Cobra. It just rolled over 15,000km on the stock motor with no problems yet. The good news is i have a good used battery from my scoot i will donate to the cause. The bad news so far isnt to bad. It needs a throttle and an ignition, i think the coil is ok. The person that stole it hot wired it so i think its just the wiring not making connection that made him think the coil is bad. I guess he kicked it until the kick starter broke then gave up. He isnt picky, he just needs wheels asap so as long as it will start and go he will be happy. I might not even bother with de-restricting it and such. Just an oil change.?. Who knows lol

Can anybody show me what wires need crossed to get the ignition to connect? He had something messed up because when i hooked the battery up i blew the fuse for the batt.

Well looks like this one is gonna be a parts unit. After adding up all the parts this thing ended up needing it was $200+ and a $500 scooter is just not worth it to him and i cant say that i blame him. I am currently looking for another used scooter for him. Hopefully the same model so he can use this one for the good parts left. It might be for sale for $100 or less to. If so i might buy it and fix it, probably paint it and maybe get some new plastic for it. Then i would have a scooter for the wife the ride with me and a back up scooter so i could paint Skeedr or whatever else comes up.

What do you think would be the first thing to fry if you grounded a hot wire at the ignition with the battery fuse bypassed with foil? I was thinking it would be the CDI box. Right now the guy that owns this scooter cant afford another one(no good deals right now), so i gotta get it running for him as cheap as possible. Back to square one lol.

Why do people always bypass the fuse? For anyone out there thinking of bypassing a fuse... FUSES ARE CHEAPER THAN REPLACEMENT PARTS!!! IF YOUR FUSE KEEPS BLOWING YOU HAVE A PROBLEM! FIND IT! FIX IT! JuST SAY NO TO FUSE BYPASSING!
Sorry. Anyway, the procedure goes test the magneto and coil and then assume it's the CDI if all other parts test to spec. If it has a kill switch, make sure that's in working order too.

I agree with ya...That pisses me off when i see that someone has bypassed a fuse only to blow whatever the fuse was for. I will check them in that order, thanks

Make sure that ballast resistor is OK too.

I checked it out and the only thing getting power is the turnsignals and the horn. The thing about the resistor is that i dont see anything to hook the other wire to? The regulator has power going in but not out. I might have had the kill switch off though, i just remembered i didnt move it and its not labeled.

I know there are some resistors with only one wire. I doubt it, but maybe someone hooked in one with 2 wires?

Sure helps to have the little switch on lol. Still no spark but it will crank over now and everything works except no spark. I would imagine its the ballast resistor, it is the same as yours and has two wires but you could be right or its the CDI but im still shooting in the dark. I hate it when there is a problem that could have been easily avoided by not bypassing a fuse. Something is telling i would have been done tuning this thing over the weekend if not for the foil.
