I found this video of the skill's test for MD online. It starts in Oxford, MD, the town I got pulled over in last summer or fall for speeding. It proceeds to Easton, MD which is exactly where I need to go to take my motorcycle skills test at some point. Should have done it long ago, but that's another story. The test has changed slightly since this video. The 12 second slow ride test in the beginning has now been replaced with an obstacle avoidance test. The last part, when the test is allegedly over, the instructor tells the rider to go park the bike. I sat out there and watched my friend fail on a 150cc scoot because he thought the test was all over and ran through the stop sign on the way to park the scoot. www.livevideo.com/video/0D65DD0E72684DCDA79BAF6A5B21D45D/maryland-motorcycle-road-test-.aspx

Sneaky bastards... The guy in the video got pretty lucky. I don't know if it's just me, but buffering the video was a pain in the ass :/ Had 20 minute to spare before work, and I didn't get to finish it. I'm off... maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&q=oxford,+md&fb=1&gl=us&ei=ztScS_flOZ7SyQScoqCgAg&ved=0CBQQpQY&hl=en&view=map&geocode=FStPTgIdpbZ1-w&split=0&iwloc=A&sa=X Not all that far. Might take just about 3 hours on the scoot. Can you do the ride with a 50cc?

The problem I've had getting very far around here is the MD law that won't allow a 50cc on any road with a speed limit of 55 or greater. You can find back roads to get around without using highways in some cases (the Chesapeake bay and some rivers really screw that up and put you way off course to go around though). My biggest problem with that is that the scooter I ride all the time has a 50 mile safe range and some of the back roads routes to get around things would really be pushing that. If I had one that got 80-100MPG (4T) it would be much easier. That's a big part of why I wanna get my M license. I could get my own 150 and ride wherever I please. They can go on highways or whatever just like any other car or big bike. Oxford isn't a problem for me, that's about 30 minutes away on roads with 50MPH speed limits. I go there a lot at night because the road from Easton to there is nearly dead late at night and it's a good road.

I can say I LOVE my 150's. I did the class here in WI. It was kinda fun ;D They gave us motorcycles to ride for 2, 8 hour class days, I rode a 750 Virago, handled like a bitch. They didn't have any other short seated cycles available I feel no need to ride something that size every day though. Happy with my scooters We tested for use of signals, control on a slow figure 8 (hell ), avoiding objects, and my favorite, the quick stop____smooth

I rode a friend's 150 for about 1,000 miles, so I know what they're like. My scoot was down waiting for parts and he told me to use it so it wasn't sitting. He used to ride it without tags like a 50. The sad part is, my little 2 stroke is just a bit faster but they won't let me tag it. I'm not a people person, so sitting in an MSF course over a weekend doesn't sound like fun to me. I'd rather take the written test one day (about 15-30min in the MVA) and then go back another day a couple weeks later and do the skills test (about 45min-1hr if you pass and get your new photo taken etc...). I had my permit at one point, then I never did the skills test.

There was one class room day, lot of video's and and a written test ( basicaly same questions as the temps ) Then the two days riding. Class of 12, 12 motorcycles. We sat on those cycles the whole time, not much conversing going on. Age's of riders from 16 - 60, including a few older Harley guys who never got their M endorsement before. Never left 2nd gear. They taught it like nobody had ever riden before. My biggest problem was getting used to a clutch after riding an automatic. At the time I had just gotten the Baron, which I couldn't ride for weeks after getting my license while I tracked down an electrical short. ( thus, The Evil Baron ) I would imagine all courses arn't the same though. Our regular skills test around here is a real road test. They put a radio on you and follow you around town giving instructions, the thought of that gave me nightmares.

Thats the only way to get your endorsement now. I don't know how Maryland is but you never know when a law like that can change.

Yeah, I really need to get it done. I had planned to buy a 150 of my own and get my license over the winter. Never happened. I'm debating selling the Sunl and putting that toward a 150, but then part of me wants to have another go at the Sunl to see if I can get it going faster.

My friend keeps saying he wants me to mod his 150, but he just won't pull the trigger. He should sell it to me. ;D
