OK bought a 2012 49cc taotao scooter. ran good for a bit but has been getting worse and worse. I now have about 1200km on it. I have always felt that this scooter is to lean but I dont have much exp to go on. Basicly takes forever to warm up, dies at stop lights, can't get over 30 mph, not much power.
I was able to open up my carb and look at the jet. The main jet was a 61-67 (can't quit read it). I have been told this was too small for this scooter. I replaced it with a 75, know starts a bit better but runs worse.
For just a stock 49 cc scooter what is a good main and piolt jet size? Is it posible that I damaged my engiene with the smaller jet? If so will new rings and head gasket fix the job? Do I need to get a compression test to find this out? If so what should a good test read?
Also what does the small screw on the side do (the one with the small cap over it). I have been told it is the air and gas mixture screw. Does it give more air or more fuel ect?
Thanks for the help.

all it needs is a valve adjustment im sure
taotaos are 63cc so an 80-85 main works well and pilot 30-35
screw.... 2.5 turns out

This compleately fixed my problem thank you so much. After doing the valve job it had so much more power and almost did not need any warming up. As far as the jets i have a 75 main jet and a 40piolet jet. Is this close enough? Again thanks.
