Hi guys,
I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. I've dropped my scooter (slipped in the rain) and since then it is gutless and doesn't accelerate as well or hit the top speed. Ay idea where I should start looking? Thanks everyone.

:welcome2:
Might wanna take the airbox off and see if the filter is saturated with gas from tipping over.

Hey man thanks for the reply! I did check it out just then and there is a slight smell but its not wet or anything seems fairly normal. My friend seems to think it could be the exhaust but it didn't get hit when I came down. Any other ideas? Btw, it slid on the exhaust side but the big stand sticking out a bit and throttle saved the exhaust from getting scratched. Thanks again, and love your vids

I suppose something could have broke free and ended up clogging up the pipe, but I dunno how likely that is. Otherwise you should be able to clearly see damage to the pipe or hear a leak if it were hurting the performance I'd think.
Check connections to the ignition system... plug boot, coil, CDI, stator.
Didn't damage the throttle (perhaps not letting you get full travel) when it hit?

Thanks, I'll check those things out. I thought about the throttle, so I tightened it but no difference, just need less action on the wrist. I just went for a ride and I am almost 100% positive that it doesn't rev as high. Mind you, the variator was stuffed so I got a new one off ebay and that helped (before It couldn't even make it up my steep driveway). I also got a new belt, and I've heard that that can mess with your top speed for a little while, but its been a while. I used to top at a nice 43 mph on a flat surface, but now its lucky to hit 37 mph.

Usually a new belt will raise top speed if anything, and make takeoff a little weaker. Old belt, of course, has the opposite effect.
When you did the variator change, was it a stock replacement or performance? Did you use the old rollers or tune it?

could be anything; ranging from fuel filter/line, CVT, electrical wire somewhere, anything....

ok ive found something. my variator key keeps breaking and the fan pulley keeps spinning freely on spindle. snapped and totally disintegrated my belt, ugh. that whole area a bit iffy a scooter mechanic told me my crank shaft looked like crap. so now it seems i need to replace it, and wow its a big job for me, might give it a go found some good resources on here... but i believe its the cause as the variator fan was spinning really unbalanced and probably causing my issue. not that it was related to the accident though. the one i had before was also unbalanced. as for the variator i got off ebay, it was this one, www.ebay.com.au/itm/Performance-variator-2-stroke-50cc-16mm-21mm-for-Vmoto-Milan-Monza-1E40QMB-/321028775560?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4abece5e88&_uhb=1#ht_1161wt_1165used the rollers than came with it, 15x12, 5g. so i guess im going to have to figure out what my next step is, chew threw another variator and belt or sort out my crank shaft issue?

Check the splines on the crank. There's a good chance they are damaged. If they are seriously damaged, there's no point in installing another variator to ruin. Just look it over carefully and it shouldn't be hard to see if there's a difference in the splines around the area where the vari locks in and the rest of the splines.
I had a customer in the past install the front pulley parts wrong and break the key and mess up the splines a little. I filed his to clean it up, since the damage was minor to the crank. He was fine after replacing the vari parts that were ruined.
Check the rear plate of the variator out too. It should have splines in the center. Make sure the key and the rear plate will slide back and forth on the crank without hanging, but secure on the the splines and not rotating.

I had to file mine a bit to get my last one on, was fairly tedious. I'm pretty sure once I got them on they weren't sliding all that well.. and hanging. Do you think that could be the cause of the fan breaking? because the rear is still all good. When i ran it without the cvt cover on the fan side was like blurry wobbling fast if u get what I mean. But I figured that was either normal, or the best I was gonna get.

Sounds like the problem. Either the splines were messed up enough that it didn't lock in tight or there was a spacing issue and it didn't tighten down as it should when torqued. It shouldn't be wobbly.

Just a thought, could a drop cause a leak to appear in the engine?

I suppose it's possible. Never hurts to check for leaks.
