My daughters JMstar 250 scooter started running hot. I found the the fuse holder melted and the fuse for the electric fan in the fuse box melted. Didn't blow either fuse but the plastic on the fuse was melted. The fan no longer runs and thus it overheats. I know there is a switch threaded into the radiator and a temp sender that works the guage on the dash. The dash temp guage still works. The cooling system is full so I am figureing that the fan sender/sensor is shorted to ground. Because I live in Florida I think I can wire the fan direct for anytime the engine is running without issue. Any thoughts?

You're prob just as well off to make it ign switched unless she rides in the winter. I don't know much about them, but I've seen lots of posts around the net of 250s having cooling problems.

I am 52 clams poorer from replacing the fan motor. I had to change the mounting to the shroud from the universal fit. OEM was 115 clams Yikes! I know my daughter is happy.
