I was thinking about buying a quad in 2007 - 2008.
A little history first... I grew up in Ct, and since 12 I have had various dirtbikes. In 1992 I moved to Az for school and took along my RM250.
I sold the RM in Az for more than I paid for it. Not enough time to ride and mine and my friends schedules would never align.
I moved back to Ct in Dec 98. From about 2000 on I wanted to get a quad, but something happened in Ct and possibly happened when I was in AZ. Dirtbike riders and quad riders are seen by everyone as being vandals on wheels. An attitude of quads and dirtbikes are only good for destroying property. There is a CT law that states if you are caught riding on private property you will be fined 5 times the damage done to the property. Logically, what is that? How do you calculate 5 times the damage of dirt being moved inches to feet away from where it originally was?
This was quite foreign to me especially because when you go North of here above Mass, (Mass is a liberal hellhole, much like CT) in NH, ME or VT, there are trails alongside every road. Quads, dirtbikes and snowmobiles peacefully coexist there!
Anyway, I wanted to do something legal. I wanted to ride on the road.
I knew from my dirtbike days that there was never too much power, and I could never go fast enough. I did not want to replicate that on the road with a crotch rocket. I wanted to cruise, and without getting bogged down with a special license, registration, insurance, yada yada, yada.
At first I thought of getting another moped. I had a couple of those when I was younger too. I then looked in to 50cc "moped" class scoots and I was hooked.
Although, I did go back and forth a lot on the question "Is this right for me?" and "A scooter, what the hell are you thinking?"
I'm just glad I pulled the trigger. If I bought a quad it would only see daylight about once or twice a year.
I am curious how others here have caught the scoot bug.
