Drove my scooter to work and the gas gage stays at empty. Its a Taotao 50cc. Any ideas where to start looking?
I have not done any investigation yet. Thanks

start by looking in the tank and see if the float is floating then check the conections at the sender on the tank and under the dash

Could be a loose wire on the back of the gauge itself, could be a bad connection/wire somewhere else or it could be a stuck float. Many times the little circular clip on the shaft is pushed on too far so it pinches the float body. Prying it away a little bit usually will free it up. Other times the float itself cracks and gets fuel logged or it'll fall off the shaft altogether.

Both times I had fuel guage problems it was the float like Fox said. If too tite the float wire can't move freely, miner fix. If the float itself is bad, the whole unit is replaced, fairly easy and cheap part. The float sits in the top of the gas tank, and can be removed easily with a twist and lifted out to check it.

Well I found out why my gage does not work. The float has disconected from the swing arm part. The float is down in the tank and i'm not sure how to get it out:( Maybe fill the tank up really full and it will float to the vey top.
