There's no polarity so it's okay for the wire colors to be reversed because the power going to it is AC. However the wires should not be unconnected. One should go to the AC lighting coils on the magneto and the other wire goes to ground. On some bikes the ground connection will first pass through a power resistor.

What would cause the choke to stay hot all the time? Even with the key off. It will drain the battery....Bad regulator, stator maybe?

I'd think it would be more likely to be the regulator/rectifier. If it goes bad it can cause battery voltage to pass through things otherwise operated only by the stator. When I had a bad regulator in the SunL I could turn the headlights on without the engine running. Just a guess, never ran across a constant hot enrichener.

On my Derbi that circuit is energized through the voltage reg./turn sig. central control/check control? (all in one, eight terminals) so I would swap a good one in as a first try. If you've got (or can get) a schematic you'll be miles ahead. There was a site where you could download schematics for motorcycles and scooters but I can't remember anything about it.

thanks guys! Weird, i took off or unplugged the stator, CDI, and the rectifier all at once and it still is hot.
