Is the bolt holding on the stator cover/flywheel reverse thread? I own a 49cc taotao scooter. Is it the same for all GY6 engines?

no just the threads on the flywheel is, the bolt holding the flywheel on its thread is normal

Is the bolt extereemly tight? I tryed to loosen it with a 3/8 drive ratchit and could not get it.

I use a non powered impact that requires you to hit it with a hammer to break loose nuts and torque em . They only cost around 10 dollars . I tried using a standard socket wrench and it was rounded the nut . Now this is for removing the cover plate and I have no idea how it would work on the clutch or variator nut where many use an electric or air powered impact driver . Again only use to break it loose and final torque to prevent risk of damage as I have read where many have striped the threads . It looks like a fat screwdriver that can use different tips and only needs a mild hit

I think i got one of the non powered impact wrench at work. what about the 18v cordless impact guns, would they work? I say some guy use it on a youtube video. Thanks

Should, i only had trouble one time with my electric impact and it was a variotor nut

A 12v emergency impact that can run on your scooter battery works great for the casual use you would need it for just working on your own scooter. So a basic electric should work as well. The common impact socket needed for GY6 is 17mm. I like the emergency impact for the fact it can be carried on long trips for a roadside belt change. Electric not so much. The impact driver has come in handy on stock screws on the carb. Never thought to try it on anything bigger, hmm.

What she said^^^ I have one of these 12 volt emergency impacts for changing tires on the road and it's served me well for a long time and still going strong. I got mine at a Kragen/Orielly auto parts for $30 about 3 or so years ago. They sell them all over the internet and at Harbor Freight. The only issue is the sockets are weak and cracked after some use so I replaced them with a few good quality ones. 17mm, 14mm, 15/16 works on most rear wheel nuts. The up-side is they run off the scooter battery so you never have to recharge it and if you carry it in your car you can run it off the battery or the lighter and you'll never have to work hard to get those lug nuts loose. www.harborfreight.com/12-volt-1-2-half-inch-emergency-impact-wrench-92349.html This shows one removing a variator nut:

OK so I tried using my friends 1/2" impact gun on my variator nut and it did not get it loose. It is 230psi. Regular lefty loosy threads right?
Could not try the flywheel nut, need to get a 1/2" drive 14 mm socet.

It usually takes me about 3 smacks with the impact to get em loose.

i came across one like that that my electric impact wrench wouldnt take it off either the shop i took it to with a air one coundnt do it they had to heat and try and it finally come off

Other Options Include: A can of PB Blaster, a rust eater. Spray on and let sit for a few minutes. eBay search "Variator Tool" Personally I prefer the Spanner Wrench which holds the Flywheel on the opposite side of the variator, can also be used to hold the clutch bell, plus you can use a torque wrench to set the nuts back to spec which is 28ft/lbs for the Variator nut and 40ft/lbs for the Clutch nut :

Liquid Wrench is great to help remove seized nuts and bolts . The non powered impact drivers that you wack with a hammer are awesome to get a stuck nut or bolt loose . I first learned about them when I was rebuilding the clutch on my Honda CR125 and the nuts were rounding instead of turning with a socket wrench . I called the motorcycle shop where I go and he told me about the hammered impacts . China made bolts , nuts and screws are way too soft compared to those made in The USA . I have damaged a few and replaced with USA made one from a local hardware store . If the soft bolts were overtightened they can get stretched and hard to remove .
Harbor Freight has a decent torque wrench for 30 but often has a coupon to get them for ten dollars . Its not like Craftsman but safer than guessing
