Awesome! thanks Vert. over the weekend I think I narrowed it down the the stator anyway but that def helped. im gonna try to re position the pick up and if that dont work just replace the stator.
have you run into them going out commonly on the Jog's?

Ignition component failures are pretty common.

have you run into them going out commonly on the Jog's? On "Yamaha Jog's" they (stators) seem to go forever, on cheap Chinese copies they can, and do, seem to go out regularly. I don't know if it is poor quality in the wire itself, or the insulating varnish...... probably a bit of both.

Yeah, I've never owned a genuine Yamaha. All Chinese clones. Its the same for all of the Chinese scoots, not just the Jog clones AFAIK.

As long as you don't find yourself in some kind of time warp where someone has added all kind of accessory "stuff", requiring electricity, to the scooter, the Yamaha stators will seem to last 20+ years. The more stuff you add, the hotter the stator runs, to the point where the insulating varnish on the wires starts to break down. Poor quality wire, used to wrap the stator, can develop hot spots.... again: breaking down the insulating varnish the wire is coated with. Over the years it seems all manufacturers have toyed with sourcing stators from cheap suppliers, as once in a while you get a run of bad stators in a year/model line, ok I suppose if the things are $29, but some can run you $300, or more, on certain motorcycles. You can ''shock'' it off with a hammer, but seeing as they are $10 it's not worth the risk with damage to the crank or flywheel
