First, I have a few previous threads that will give you some background. I installed an 80cc kit with stock head. Everything went smooth the first time around. Had a very hard crank like compression was too high. Took it apart and realized the cam was 180 degrees off.The third up right circle on the cam was facing downward. I switched it to the correct position. Now, before i knew about the cam i bought a higher cca battery. Now with the battery and the cam switched it is turning over pretty well but I'm getting no start. Checked gas, and spark, and compression is very muchthere. I need to get an attachment for my compression gauge that fits these gy6 spark plugs. So i assume now,i must still have some kind of timing issue. Last night though for just a couple seconds it sputtered and ran for a second out two. Like a low idle kind of run. Any thoughts? I need some ideas!
Oh valve leash is set at .003 on intake and .004 on exhaust.. I set this at tdc. Just to be sure tdc if the "t"mark correct? And the cam should be set with the three holes. Two on the sides lined up with the head surface and the third facing up? I also tried using starting fluid and i got nothing. Not a spark, not a backfire, not anything.

Wow, well i tore it down again today. Everything is spot on. I guess i didn't have the cam installed off. Its just there are two different cam positions at tdc. So i reset everything and put an extra base gasket in. Cam chain still fit just fine. I haven't fired it up (or tried to yet). But I'm a bit baffled at this point. I'm going to try a different carb and a few other things but I'm at a loss.

Cam should look like you described: Are you still having a no spark issue? If so, I would check: The pick up coil wire connecting to the cdi. ( Usually yellow/blue or white/red ) Ensure you have a ground wire from a valve cover bolt connected to the frame. Check the continuity of your spark plug coil. Connecting the two prongs on the coil should be 0.1 to 1.0 . Check the continuity of the negative prong on the coil to the spark plug boot/cap. Should be under 9K. Also download the GY6 QMB139 Manual if have not already: www.chinesescooterreference.com/pdf/GY6Manual.pdfIf you have spark, what size idle and main jet do you have? Also try removing the air filter and holding you hand over the carb when starting, letting in just a little air for a richer mixture. Covering more or less of the air inlet on carb. Good luck!

This scooter never had a ground from the valve cover to the frame. Now i cant get the electric start to work. I left the rear brake disconnected but that's it and the starter is spinning but the tiny gear inside the cvt isn't doing anything. If it's not one thing it's a complete opposite.

I should be getting spark. I took the boot off put the plug in and started it on the frame. Blue spark was present.

I got it. It WAS a ground, lol. Good call!!! It was hidden. I never saw it. The whole time this was the issue. Well,i was a two stroke guru, and i didn't really want to learn the four strokes, but I'm certain i can take one down and put it back together now!
