Make sure your clutch dosnt have a shoe hanging up.
The drive boss is the piece you mentioned. It can be "shaved" down (typically) as a mod for more top end speed because it will let your vari close more. In your case it might let your vari get some teeth to bight on. This may sound silly but it would work and since your in a bind, maybe?
You could get another vari "lock washer", get your vari all installed right with the best weights ya got and just weld the washer to the crank...There both steal. You could just tack it on, and grind it back off when you need to..
