I have a guy that wants me to do a new spark plug and oil change/tune-up on a 250 Elite. I have worked on a few Chinese 250's in the past but never did the gear oil before. I have a .pdf manual for the Elite 250 that calls for SAE 10W30 in both the engine and trans. Seems odd to me.
Also, the manual says to use the strainer screen plug to drain the oil. Is there a separate drain bolt on those?

actauly the service manual saying sae is very common they all used to list the g rated 10/30 as the primary oil and engie oil as acceptable but even the new yamaha z125 lists regular engine oil for the trans

Well I went over there today and did the deed. The gear box had gear oil in it so I put gear oil back in it. The clutch nut was loose. The only reason it didn't fall off is because the belt cover is so close to it. The spark plug socket is the medium sized one (3/4 or 18mm) which I didn't have so I had to go buy one. Wasted 1/2 hour doing that. The idle speed screw is a hassle to get at. I can say now that I can service a 250 Elite, but I hope I don't have to do another one anytime soon.

My new to me Honda 80 calls for 10W40 motor oil in the engine and trans and my 2T calls for the same oil in the trans. 18mm spark plugs are very common on Jap bikes like a Suzie Katana and GSXR600
