I finally got started on putting a 90cc 2t shortcase under my wife's 02 Honda Metropolitan. I got it stripped down and removed the Honda 4t motor. I mocked the 2t up but I've got a few adjustments to make. I've actually got the 2t shortcase hanging from the frame already. Either I've gotta put about a 3" stretch (darn it) on the Honda subframe, or modify the cooling shroud to fit between the motor and frame. Not sure which way I'm going with it yet. And I know pics would be great but I can't upload them for some reason right now.

Here's the 2t hanging from the Honda subframe. And a look down thru the frame rails.

This is a cool project. It's looking like a stretch would be the way to go since the spark plug is also running into the frame. I like the big cooling fans, but as long as you use a larger carb you may find clearance with a typical 50cc fan and the smaller shroud. If that worked, then you'd just be left with the plug issue and maybe a notch in the frame could cover that.

That's not a very good pic but the sparkplugs actually about 1-1 1/2 inches above the cross member Brent. However I've still gotta get the motor centered and get the shock set properly which should raise the sparkplug up another 1 1/2-2 inches higher. But a 2-3 inch stretch may still need to be done due to cooling and exhaust issues, and you know that breaks my heart to stretch a Met and make it a 1 of a kind.

Will a Met engine bolt right into a GY6 frame?

Install your wheel to center the engine well, it's better to have the wheel centered than the engine centered and the wheel that is not ( we swapped an engine on a scooter, cyl. head was centered but the wheel was way off center it was strange to ride) . A small strech will not be seen if you put a shock riser or a longer shock. The rear part of the engine seems very low compared with the stock engine. Is that an atv engine ? It looks it has no rear brake on it... Does the sprocket shaft is made the way you can install a wheel on it?

I don't have any gy6 stuff around anymore Dave but I can get some measurements and send them to you. I'm getting ready to put the engine, wiring harness and computer up for sale in the proper section also.
The mockup motor is from an atv and when I rebuild it I'll change all the sprocket parts out for brake and wheel components. I've still got more work to do before its ready but this ones gonna be easier than the last frame up stretch and fab job was.

I have been waiting for this project It looks like you have some working out to do. Lots of putting parts on, then off, then on again. The joys of making an engine fit a new home. Looking forward to some updates

You can bet I'll be documenting as much as possible for anyone else that may want to do it. The metropolitan motors are very reliable but not easily modified or upgradable for more power.
