I installed a new starter on my 90 minarelli and everything went fine. A week later i went to start it and all i get is the "click" from the solenoid but no starter engagement. I checked all the connections and everything seems fine. I did cut and re solder a different fitting for the power wire to the solenoid.Could the solenoid still be bad even though it sounds as if it's working? I replaced the starter sleeve and coil with a different one and still no go. I'm thinking bad ground, bad solenoid, or bad wiring in the starter power wire. Any ideas?

Have you checked battery voltage? You can also check voltage at the starter motor's positive terminal while trying to start. If you aren't getting DC power to the starter, you can take a screwdriver and lay it across the 2 terminals of the relay to jump it. If it works fine that way, replace the relay.

I got one that straps to my wrist. it's really helpful when working on the electric system, and it was pretty cheap too. Also, clicking usually means low battery, so I'd check that first.
Also, where are you from? 2010 X50? do you know where to get spare turn signal lights or gauge clusters for the x50?

You still need to figure out how far power is making it. If it's not starting by jumping the solenoid you either aren't getting enough power or the starter has a problem.

Unless you know the specific voltage in the battery you will not be able to troubleshoot your issue. You can buy a voly meter in Wally World for 5 bucks.

Just because your starter is new doesn't mean it's good. There's a certain percentage of stuff coming out of China that is faulty. Especially electrical components. Remove starter and see if it spins freely with your fingers. If it does, then ground the starter body against the engine or frame and press the button. If it spins then you may have a dead spot in the starter armature. I have a couple 150 starters like that. They work great as long as they don't stop on the dead spot. In other words, they are useless and I don't know why I even keep them around.
I agree you need a Volt Meter to really tell what's going on.
