Had my first oil pump failure, Was riding down the rode and soft sized on me a couple of times thought maybe i lost my air filter but it was on there, so i unhooked the oil line gave it some throttle and no oil coming out so i drain some oil from the oil reserve to put in the tank,was coming out pretty slow might be clogged, could this cause the oil pump to fail

Can't be good for it for sure. I'd suggest replacing the lines and cleaning out the reservoir if you replace the pump. Make sure you bleed the new pump as well.

You can get an adjustable oil pump. It lets you pick from 3 different covers to adjust the amount of delivery. I used one on a stage 6 race kit. with a C-16 pipe. I ran the crap out of it. the single ring kit went almost 2k before needing a re-ring. When I pulled the kit it looked like new, no wear on cylinder or piston. Its nice to just pull up to a pump and gas up. www.adrenalin-pedstop.co.uk/Products/Search.aspx?keywords=adj+oil+pump

Can you tell what the difference is between the plates that makes it deliver more oil?

The covers have a different ramp height size. The covers are color coded. For the 70cc the yellow is the one I found best suited.
Yellow = +30% green = +60% red = +100%

I've been pre-mixing for years now and I have to clean the carb periodically cause the oil gunks it up. I can tell when it gets dirty cause the idle gets rough and I lose power.

What about using a Mikuni oil pump ?

I have no experience on the Zuma with a Mikuni. There is no 2nd cabel going to the pump on a Zuma. Not a bad idea though. My Derbi Gp-1 has a Mikuni pump & cable setup.
The Derbi setup really makes me nervous, it is belt driven off the Crakshaft. So it not only drives oil pump, it drives the waterpump too. Off a little 1/4 wide cog belt, tucked back behind the Variator.

I had my stock oil pump fizzle out on me twice grrrrrr. I bought a Mikuni oil pump to replace if it gets nice enough outside and needed to replace the throttle cable with part # 159-26 from PFS .
I have seen the other pump and it looks good but does that website ship to The USA ? I may be wrong but I think some have said no they had their money taken from them . Again I may be mistaken , so anyone who has purchased from them please comment

As a precaution I will also be adding oil to the gas tank as well

It was me who had the trouble. Adrenlin, will ship to USA. It was Pedparts UK, That will take our money, but won't ship. Or should I say they claim they shipped it. But will not produce any tracking information.
They now at least say on the Web Site, No USA Shipping. Before if you paid with Pay-Pal. It would go through like it was okay. Then They jerk you around for 45 days. Then Pay-pal tells you you took to long.
