Hey all, need some help with my Vento triton r4. I have a naraku dell'orto 21mm carb; however, the throttle cable isnt long enough for the dellorto. The spring is too compressed and doesn't open/close properly. What length throttle cable is standard for the b series scoots (i.e. CPI Husar, Vento Triton, Keeway f-act, etc) and what length should I purchase in order to accommodate for the new carb?
The speedo i just received is the Koso DB-01. I have everything but the RPM and Speed settings figured out... how do i wire this up in order to get accurate readings for 12" wheel size 103cc 2stroke?

With a little effort and the right adapter for the carb top, you should be able to make the stock cable work. DellortoDirect and Treatland carry different adapters, as well as many other retailers. I've taken mounted the stock carb's adapter into aftermarket carbs before too. Gotta be careful ordering any aftermarket cable, because the most common don't have the right threads for the stock throttle. I'm not sure on the length of the cable needed. Last time I ordered one I just ran a tape measure from the throttle to the carb, following the contours of the scoot of course, and got a cable a few inches longer than that measurement. Wiring for the tach should either be inductive (wrap the wire from the tach around the spark plug wire a few times) or it will need to tap into the positive side of the ignition coil. Wiring for the speedo should be a pickup/sensor from the gauge and then you'll need a magnet mounted on the wheel. Gotta adjust them so the pickup is within a couple mm of the magnet as it passes. Here's some info on the settings of your gauge. www.digital-speedos.co.uk/db01r-guide-290-p.asp

In an "emergency" I have fitted a 10+ speed inner gear change cable to a throttle. You get the universal one (usually a buck, or two) match up the end that fits in your throttle barrel and cut off the other. Stuff it through your existing cable outer and check out how much you need at the carb end. Then simply tie a knot in the end of the cable as required. The knot will engage 99% of carb slides and you should be good to go...........

I saw a guy with a beat up zuma the other day. The twist, or the end must have broke off of the cable....he had a pair of mini vice grips pinched on the cable that he "rolled" over the handlebar to control the throttle.

There was a time: That you could solder cable ends onto cables, AND you could buy the ends to solder on, but that seems to be a long time ago, and very far away?
So, forget it.

I think Brent in one of his threads mad an end with a piece of oil pressure line for the carb end

So i went out hunting today to find the cable and found one from a salvaged keeway f-act at my local shop. Also got a few jets to go along. As 90GTVert said the stock throttle cable is indeed long enough for a Dell'Orto. All I had to do was carefully drill out the threads in the cap of the carb, took my old 90degree elbow from my stock carb, stuck that through to see if it would. Then, adjusted accordingly until i had a snug fit. I then reinforced it with some thread lock, a double layer of electrical tape just in case, and an o ring. The throttle then hooks up the exact same way as the stock carb.
As for the guy on the zuma, that just sounds like a really terrible idea...
