yet another problem this week. This morning it was raining on my way to work, and i thought that because my foam air filter was covered in that spray oil for dirt and everything that it would repel any water. Man was i wrong, my scooter ran fine for about 1/4 of a mile untill it started reving really high and almost no power at cruising speed of 23mph. then when i pulled over and tried to take off again it would only rev really high and not move at all. walked my scooter home took the air filter off and dried it, tooke the carb of and dried the inside with a soft air brush to try get water out of the intake. Seems to run almost fine but something still seems off, white liquid is coming out of one of the 3 hoses from the carb. Heres a pic www.dropbox.com/s/y7miro4ax7f6sau/2013-03-17%2021.08.59.jpgwith this white stuff, my scooter wont idle cold after manual choke or idle on manual choke. Reply asap would be appreciated. Jay

You might need to take the carb off and clean it. Get all passages with carb cleaner and compressed air. Remove everything and clean. Wanna make sure there's no water or oily residue from the filter anywhere in there.

i thought that because my foam air filter was covered in that spray oil for dirt and everything that it would repel any water. The oil will repel the water... from sticking to the foam. However, it won't prevent the water from going past the foam and into the carb/intake. You will want to avoid any direct water spray on the filter, and it's best if you have some sort of cover for the filter on rainy days.

In doing this i found that the float was also a bit damaged from when my scooter fell over, it had small range of movement and is fixed now. Scooter seems to run fine now, except i think the gasket for the exhaust is not working as it sounds like and looks like partly burnt oil leaking out all over the bolts and spring.
