Hello, I picked up a 2013 Aprilia SR MT 50 around 3 weeks now and was wondering about derestriction, etc.
I fell off last Friday , with minimal damage to the scooter, although I have noticed that I now seem to somehow have lost acceleration and maybe even a little top speed. I was reaching 60+ with stock parts and restrictors still in. Maybe I am just imagining things, but could there be any reason to this?
I was also looking at either getting a Leo Vince ZX or a Stage6 Pro Replica performance exhaust for my scooter, but can't decide on which one or the correct type for my type of engine. Also I know there are restrictors in this exhaust, but what are they and how would I get them out.
My scooter still has its restrictions in and I was wondering if there would be any other restrictions aside from the variator ring and the dummy pipe. If so what are they and how would I get them out.
I have heard that with the exhaust mod I would have to change my roller weights? I weigh 145lb and about 175cm and was wondering what you think would be the best weight for it?
Also looking at possibly increasing the size of the carb (or is it a jet) wondering the typical stock size and what size I should increase to.
Sorry I have put so much information in here, but really don't know a massive amount about scooters and just looking for some guidance.
Regards, dreamed

you fell off at 60+? I highly doubt you were going 60+mph, maybe 60kmph... stock 50cc caannot reach 60+, although a moddeed 70cc MIGHT make it.
You may or may not have a restrictor, if you do, you can take it off by removing the variator.
As for exhaust, you can get either the LV or s6, both are good. stock exhaust may not be worth modding at all.
roller weights, you will want to get a tuning set and figure out which weight works best for you. you may also want to get stiffer clutch and torque springs. There's no one setting that's "best," since all the tuning you do will affect the holding RPM for acceleration, top speed, hill climbing, etc. it will all change depending on where your engine's powerband is, desired characteristics, and what the overall weight is.
There's a LOT of reading you need to do, so start with spending about a week reading everything you can about variator tuning, working on the variator, carb tuning, etc. Plenty of resources and articles on this site too. There's no way we can tell you what to use, we can only give you a starting point since every scooter/motor/rider is different.
You should be able to keep stock carb, just need to upjet. Start w/ main jet, then work out the kinks w/ the needle setting, needle size, air/fuel screw, idle, etc. (this will probably take the longest time to learn)

Would there possibly be any other restrictors apart from the variator and the dummy pipe on the exhaust? And also would there by anything to explain a loss of acceleration and top speed after I fell off?

there may be a restriction in the CDI, which will limit the revs. Not sure if Aprilias have this or not though. Is your scooter a DiTech fuel injected motor?
As for losing accel and top speed, first thing I would suspect is something with the variator. but can't tell unless you take the cover off and inspect it. does anything else sound different? is the throttle opening all the way up? is the intake tract tightly on and connected properly?

Ok sweet, I'm goi g to get it serviced quit soon and see what they have to say.
Also when looking for performance parts, I have noticed that many sites don't have the option to search just for the SR MT 50. Should I just instead search for Piaggio Typhoon parts as it is essentially the same scooter? Also how would I know if these pipes would fit to the specific engine of the SR MT 50?

if it's essentiually the same scooter, then all the performance parts are likely to be the same. However, it might be better to check with people on an Aprilia specific forum.

I think your bike is just a Typhoon, but sold through the Aprilia dealer from what i understand. I think that because they are so new and not a very common model, not a lot of places have listed parts for them. Your best bet is a performance pipe if you want easy performance. The standard exhaust wont be great even if you derestrict it, unless you cut off the resonator pipe and weld it flat. I have seen some people cut the resonator pipe of weld it closed. Then weld the resonator back on so it looks like a standard pipe.
