...when you run a two stroke without oil.
My brother got lucky the first time. Ran it out of oil, and it started up once he put oil back in the tank. I told him how lucky he was it started up again, and that I didn't think it would even start. Doubt it would last long after what running it without oil. Told him to keep an eye on it.
An then he did it again, EVEN THOUGH HE HAD OIL AT HIS HOUSE, he didn't fill up his tank. Ran it out of oil again. Told me it wouldn't start this time, and asked me to look at it for him. This is what I found after taking it apart.
The piston is scored on every part of the piston. The rings are jammed into their slots. It was almost impossible to get the pin out. Had to use a punch and hammer. Don't know how typical that is though. Wasn't easy to get my stock pin out with only 600 miles on it. But this one was pretty fucking hard.
Now the cylinder wasn't as bad as I expected, but this one DEFINITELY needed some honing done. Not to mention the extreme carbon build up on the exhaust. Talk about restrictions...
My camera is too shitty to get a good pic of the cylinder. But you can imagine. It's not looking good.
Luckily I have this extra 1E40QMB 70cc bbk courtesy of Carlos. Only problem is that my brother's pin is a 12mm. My kit has a 10mm pin and piston. I sent my brother an email letting him know that he needs to pay $39 to get the new piston kit. Told him I'd give him the cylinder and gaskets for free. Only fair, he is my brother and I did get it for free. We'll see if he wants to or not.
My only concern is wasting my time and my extra kit on a scooter that he is just going to trash. I mean ALL of his plastics are trashed and broken. The scooter is covered in grime. He leaves it outside all the time. He runs it out of oil, even though he has oil in his house. I mean, it's his only form of transportation, you would think he would try to take care of it, right? I've already fixed the thing a couple times before, too. Fuckin' ingrates.
Hm. At least I get to work on a real 1E40QMB for a change!
Hopefully he says I can just keep it so I can have my own drag project to work on ;D. We'll see if it's worth $39 bucks to him.
