I got an order in today from Parts For Scooters. I needed a few small parts, and decided to pick up one of these shocks while I was at it. (gotta make that $99.00 minimum to get free shipping!) I put it on my wife's bone stock 2005 Yamati RX8, and took it for a spin. I have to say it REALLY improved the overall ride of the scoot. While the length of the shock is identical to the stock one, ride height increased because the scooter does not sag, or drop much now when you sit on it. The only problem with it now is that it amplifys how worn out the front forks are! Dang it! Cost was $49.99, and IMHO is worth every penny. Just keep riding, Scott

Looks good. (gotta make that $99.00 minimum to get free shipping!) I find myself using the same logic whenever possible.

I stuck a $400 air shock with multiple adjustments on a midbike years ago. While it was a nice piece, I never did it again. Maybe it would be worth putting a lot of cash out if you were really gonna spend time dialing in the suspension, but I've been quite happy with shocks much more like what oldgeek is using since then and keeping the rest of the money for mods that make a bigger difference. Prob depends who you talk to as well. Some of the Ruckus/Zuma crowd speak highly of them... but some of them also think $1000 is a good deal for a GY6 swap bracket.

Brought one from autotech355 some years ago, still in great condition ! Can be adjusted from ±240mm to ±300mm in height. Aftermarket shocks really change the handling of a scooter, some shocks like Zuma/Jog ones become so hard after some years of use that they're like a iron bar, I've put the Autotech gas shock that was on my jog on my zuma because the old one was so hard we weren't able to compress it at all with 2 guys on the scooter... But for the price you got this one, no complaint, for sure a shock like this is worth every penny you spend for !

The weather was nice yesterday, and I was feeling better, so we took a family ride.
I got a chance to watch the new shock work as my wife and daughter were riding the scooter.
I still like it and I think it is perfect for our situation, but I want to point out that it may end up being too stiff for a lightweight rider. The spring is adjustable, but I don't really know what effect that has on a setup. Of course it had no instructions or adjustment tool with it.
At any rate, its still much better than the stock shock was.
Just keep riding, Scott

Did the shock have some kind of valve somewhere ? You can adjust the shock pressure with a tool like this one:
