Hi allI have been lurking for some time now figured i say hello.
first, let's see.....
I am 31 & live in Georgia, USA. I am roughly 11 to 14 days away from getting my 1st 50cc scooter. Though i have rode lil 250s & 300cc motorcycles in the past I am looking forward to new rides on my soon to be scoot. Oh yeah, it will be a "peace sports" 50cc (hopefully blue or green) with obviously the gy6 engine.....I will post it as my profile pic when i pic it up next friday or the following monday, which ever one i can get a ride for LOL.
I am aware of the bad rap most Chinese scoots have but am also aware that much of this comes from previous owners who do little to no maintainence from day one till they blew it up or it just stopped & they didnt want to put time or cash into either getting it fixed or learning to wrench their selfs...... I do maintance on all my vehicles & am looking forward to learning to work on my soon to be new scoot & am already planning Mods.
Anyways hi ya's

Sounds like you're buying new. If so, I'd recommend doing a PDI. Checking it all over. At very least, change out the engine and gear oil that come in it... unless whoever you are buying from has already done it. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/2917/strokers-pdiThere are a lot of reasons Chinese scoots have a bad reputation, some really is quality and some is more owner/operator related and some of it comes from dealers that don't properly prep or service them.

yes indeed sir i will be buying new & the dealer is "supposed to" do a pdi but i will most likely be doing one soon as i get it home anyways .....i never trust to much those who work on comission :/
I will look over the post you suggested....what is the right amount of gear oil to put in? Also how soon should i clean the carb n do the re jetting? I have heard scrappy s is back ordered on most everything not sure where else to go for parts with reliable service, any help there would be great! I @ least want to have on hand the new jets as i know a carb cleaning will be approaching soon after i get the new scoot. I will be using this lil scoot daily for in town driving which is about 95% of the driving i do (in a country town).

Actually i need more then the jets but thats deff a must have.... i am think a #85 main jet & #38 pilot jet A performance cdi & coil as well as a performance air filter would be good starter mods just not sure the point of miles needed before i do them? After review of the thread posted above I see 300 miles is the first oil n gear oil change points & 600 miles to check valves....how much gear oil would be recomended, i don't want to blow a seal? & should I do the rejetting & carb clean at the 300 mile mark or 600? hmm

what is the right amount of gear oil to put in? 100-110mL/cc. Also how soon should i clean the carb n do the re jetting? As soon as possible IMO. Here's a maintenance schedule.. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/344/periodic-checks-maintenance I have heard scrappy s is back ordered on most everything not sure where else to go for parts with reliable service, any help there would be great! I use Parts For Scooters a lot. You can find a lot of parts on eBay as well.

Hello Creeper. Welcome to the insane asylum! You don't have to measure the gear oil. Just fill it up till it starts running out of the fill hole.

nice zoom in pic of the bolts there fox, i appreciate it Good news I will be able to go get my new scoot this friday instead of next It means i will have to ride it stock for 4 r 5 days before i can make & get the mod parts ...I will be ordering a #80 main jet & a #85 main jet (cant go wrong wit to many jets for tunning lol) & a #38 pilot jet, a uni free flow filter, Magnetic drain plugs set as well as new helix fuel/vac lines to start with. My second round of parts will be performance cdi & red hot coil & prob a few other goodies But the second round want be for few weeks so i am sure parts will be added. I kinda want to do all the simple upgrades & preventative maintainence quick as possible to enjoy the scoot sei-worry free a lil bit before i even think of a BBK, LOL oh i already have gotten gear oil & motor oil (dino) irregardless of what the dealer says i am changing the fluids soon as it gets to my house & then prob change the oil a couple of times while waiting on my magnetic drain plugs, just to be safe....i don't mind the extra quart or two for the safety of the engine.
