I just got a call from a guy who's offered me a free 150cc Whip scooter if I repair his 150 Retro that has been sitting for 2 years. WOOOHOOO! I have been wanting a 150 4T for years but just couldn't afford it. I'll whip that Whip into shape in no time. He said it runs but cuts out after 5 minutes. Probably tight valves.

Congrats. I've got pretty much the same thing in the garage, but it's not mine. I've put 1,000+miles on it though. Rides pretty much like my Tritons (other than fitting a 150, basically the same frame) and does about 55MPH stock. The only thing I don't like is that it feels sloppy handling, but I think that's only because I'm used to Michelins and a frame brace on the Triton I ride all the time. I don't remember noticing that before I stiffened up my Triton. It's got 2,500 miles on it over 2-3 years and has been trouble free. It never had a real PDI (just fluid changes), no valve adjustment, never so much as removed the CVT cover. Hopefully this one will be just as trouble free once you get it back on it's feet.

LOL
Yeah, hearing the offer of a free scooter that actually has paperwork sure did take away the sting of getting that ticket the other day. I was in a bad mood all day stewing over it but now I'm like: Ticket? What ticket? ;D

Aww man! I forgot to take my camera today. I went over there and fixed his scooter today and saw it. It's friggin' beautiful! It's a Tank brand. It's blue and white with a nice top box. The exhaust is cracked at the flange so it's loud and it hesitates and backfires but it has good power and man is it clean! It looks brand new. (except for the speedometer housing. It got brake fluid on it and he tried to paint it and botched it.) I haven't brought it home yet because it won't fit in my van. Gotta bribe someone with a truck to take me over there. The scooter repair was a bitch. It just like Goosey's scooters but its a Tank also. I had to remove the entire back plastics and the floor board to do a valve adjustment on this thing. Then I had to drain the fuel tank because the gas was bad, clean the carb, ran a new crankcase vent tube to the rear of the scoot, removed all the smog stuff and blocked off the ports/vacuums, inspect/clean the CVT. I'm still not done. His front brake caliper was leaking from the piston seals so I just ordered a new caliper and pads for it. $54 at scooters Georgia. Not a bad price for a nice scoot. I'll post pics ASAP. Sorry.

Scooters of Georgia ships pretty fast. Reasonable on the shipping for Plastics too. Eagle ATV is a good place for parts for the classic too if you need. Shipping is high to start there. Yea, isn't that a bi#!@ getting to the valves? Even the spark plug is hard to get out, but after doing it a few times I did figure out how to remove the back and center w/floor in one piece. Exactly why I need a shop to work in. Almost have a shed, walls and half a roof done, 12 hours into it today Looking forward to pics of your new blue beasty ;D
