Hi, I installed the BBK and properly jetted my beamer, but I can't go faster than 40 (35 on gps). It feels like it wants to go faster, until it hits the 40 mark on the speedo, then it dies. I know it has much more power, since it can maintain that speed with almost no gas at all, so I'm pretty sure it has a rev limiter. I've heard I need to look for one or two green wires to cut under the seat. So far I've tried 2 different ones I've thought were green (I'm colorblind) and both resulted in it not starting. Anyone with a later model beamer can send me some pics highlighting which wire to cut? If anyone else has experience I can upload pictures of the situation so you can help me find it. I've also heard that the CDI on this scoot is the same one used in a Kymco super 8 (or 9?).

Its not the same CDI as a Kymco. The rev limiter on the Eton Beamer is a green wire that comes out of and then back into the back of the CDI. You've got to remove the seat bucket, and the CDI to get to it.

Well, after removing the mass of wire that kept my CDI in place, I found where the wire was, and it had already been cut. So now I'm not sure why it simply refuses to go any faster once it hits 35. I guess I'll start off by checking the exhaust for a restricted, even though I'm pretty sure the whole pipe has been gutted. The pipe also needs to be remounted nice and tight, seems to be missing a bolt and has a pretty huge exhaust leak. Guess I should also check the variator for a washer even though I'm pretty sure it doesn't have one. I guess from there on I'll check everything else if it isn't running like it should (spark plug, coil, etc.)

There is also the timing advance that changes with the engine revs. It comes very near to 0º BTDC once you reach a certain RPM. It doesn't make a dying/redline sound but it doesn't permit your engine to rev higher.

my eton beamer does the same thing! no green wire to cut on the cdi (model year 2000)...after reaches 33.4mph...it starts poping like its hitting redline...RPMs go up to 7200rpm, but after reaching top speed my TTO states 4-5K on the rpms jumping up and down rapidly..no idea how to remove it as the Etons seem to have a CDI thats not interchangeable...
