Hi everyone. I hav an 86 yamaha jog. It ran perfect until last summer. So I installed a new carb and still couldnt get it to start. I figured out that the carb was not getting any gas because the fuel pump was bad. I could not find a fuel pump for this thing to save my life. so i premixed the gas and ran it straight to the carb. It started right up and held an idle fine, but when I hit the throttle it just bogs down. any idea why? Also, the gas tank is ABOVE the carb.
Thanks!!!!!

Have you made any adjustments yet? If not, start by adjusting the mixture screw on the side of the carb. Adjust until you reach the highest idle and then turn it 1/8-1/4 turn in to be on the safe (rich) side. Once that's done, adjust your idle to around 2000 RPM and see if the problem persists.

Is the fuel in the tank fresh or has it been in there for a long time?
If it's old then I bet that's your problem.

Is your air filter hooked up or not?

The fuel is fresh, and the air filter is not hooked up.

Try hooking the factory airbox back up if you can. I think stepthrutuner was asking because your scooter will lean way out quick with stock jetting (or close) and bog out without the airbox hooked up. I ide say hook that up before anything else. Or maybe just try covering part of the carbs inlet while giving it throttle. If it revs up, you need the airbox....
