Has a Keihin 118 main jet in it. Guess I will order an assortment and start trying them.

Has that plug been in for awhile? Maybe richen the needle a clip as well?
What kind of oil? More oil is going to equal leaner jetting yet.. You will need a 120-122ish main im sure. Go too rich and lean the scooter up to get it running well if possible? Allot more forgiving this way. Sanding those "4 corners" off some with high grit will help yes.

The plug was in for around 6-8 miles. Using Maxima oil. I ordered a 120 and a 122 but I'm going to mix it 32:1 instead of 50:1, so I will see what happens.

So I got the piston cleaned up and everything put back together and all was good until it warmed up. Now when it gets warmed up it makes a horrible rattling noise. So back apart again, looks like the piston is hitting the head. Not sure why, the wrist pin is tight, the crank has no play. Any ideas?

Different base gasket or base gasket compressed? You need to get at least 0.6mm minimum clearance there with a different head or base gasket setup.

Well I've had the jug off three times and have been reusing the base gasket each time. It's pretty much smashed to nothing and probably causing this. Time to order a new one. Thanks!

At the very least when doing a top end the ring end gap(s) and squish clearance should be checked.

Good deal man! Love it! Simple and sweet! So its good on long stretches now? Any ideas on speeds? I've put about 8 more miles on it so far. The GPS speedometer app on my phone said 45mph was the top speed so far, but I was thinking I should run a couple of gallons through it and put some more miles on it before I go stretch it's legs again. What is a good top speed for a 70cc scooter?

45-50 is ok, 50-60 is good, anything over 60 is real good. Depends on the kit, exhaust, carb, etc. And mainly final drive ratio.

I think I will get some exhaust next, you can barely hear it running. I think 60mph on this thing would be terrifying.

I bet! Lol, with it that low its gotta feel fast.
Your exhaust could be restrictive? Are you going for a tuned pipe or a half pipe style (stock style) exhaust?
Im kinda surprised at what a half pipe does for a scoot. If its tuned for it that is....

Maybe something like this? Not sure though, I need to do some more research and see what's the best bang for the buck.

Is that an FM engine? I bought a Sundiro a while back that had an 1E40FM. The jug fit on a regular 1E40QMB. You can trace the base gasket onto some gasket material and cut it out and stack two of them for more clearance. Great job on the build.
