Fortunately the two stroke mode is the default setting. I found the reset shorting pads on the board in mine (an older model) and soldered in a remote momentary switch on the front to 'wake' it up when it goes to'sleep'. The refresh rate is 1x/sec. I think.

Yea, your engine will outrun the tach until your at a good speed and the rrr,s come slower. Thats one reason i love my new tach! Dead on all the time and quick as hell to react.

I want to see if I really do have 2 spark fires for every revolution. If it does, why would they do that?

I really doubt you have two pickups or reluctors, but who knows? The flywheel is behind the cooling fan and stator is behind that. You can probably see anything you need to see just by removing the fan shroud. These are pics of other engines, but most are somewhat similar.

really? It has recently taken on the scrapey sound. Sounds terrible to me. I think I need a new clutch spring But I am hoping to replace the whole clutch system, so I'll wait

Seems like it returned to idle too slow.... could be lean.

Seems like it returned to idle too slow.... could be lean. The first time I brought it down slowly to idle the second time and just hit it and let go! But I think I need to drill another jet out. I think I'm almost three turns out, and I think I had a soft seize a few weeks ago. but it might have been the crap in the fins. And the tach seems more like a 3 second refresh.
