I just got a 2005 Vento Triton R4 given to me, it's a bit rough and been sitting outside for a year, the seat cushion is gone , the lights and gauges are yellowed and the paint is pealing but it is solid and the owner told me it was running when it was parked, so here I go , I've never owned a scooter but have had motorcycles, I plan to get this one fixed up and running and do some mods to it and make it my in town runner. I am having problems getting it to run , it will idle all day but as soon as I give it gas it bogs down and dies. I should probably post that in another section. Anyway I'm sure it will be a fun project and any suggestion will be much appreciated . Thank You Dennis Stafford , Flagstaff AZ

to the forum! Is the airbox on it and in good shape? They can be very sensitive to changes with the airbox and do just what you described. Could be old gas or dirty carb. Definitely worth the effort to do a carb cleaning after one sits that long IMO.

Yea Cleaned out the Carb and fuel system , didn't matter if the airbox was on or not, but that was the first thing I thought of. I am at 7500ft here and I know the owner rode it here for a couple of years. the Carb is simple so the adjustment are not hard to figure out, I put them all back where they were after cleaning it up. I know I'm overlooking something just haven't found it yet. just frustrating.

The fuel System was more fouled up than I thought , the carb still had garbage in it so I dumped the tank a 2nd time had it boiled out , replac ed the lines, soaked the carb and went through it again , damn 10% ethanol gas is horrible on small engines and worse when they sit a longtime , anyway I got it running this morning no problem and rode it around a bit. I don't think it was ever properly Jetted for this altitude as it seams a bit rich, but I got it running, now I'm tearing it down and giving it a good going over, "needs paint and a seat anyway". can anyone suggest a good Air Cleaner & Exhaust Pipe set-up for this ? I'm going to have to Re-Jet it so may as well upgrade a bit wile I'm at it. I forgot the best part the Bike was given to me !

The stock airbox works well on these, at least for me at basically sea level. UNI is the most popular choice for a filter upgrade. Should be 38mm ID pod to fit the stock carb. PowersportSuperstore carries those for $15-16 shipped. www.powersportsuperstore.com/Uni-2-Stage-Straight-Pod-Filter-38mm-I-D-x-102m-p/4455283.htmParts For Scooters carries a jet kit or you can buy Mikuni VM11/22 main jets from places like JetsRUs and RockyMountainATV. Leo Vince GP and ZX pipes are pretty good for stock to 70cc as well as the Stage6 Pro Replica. RacingPlanetUSA has a selection of pipes. I usually Google the Leo Vince pipe I want and see who has it. The ZX isn't uncommon to see on eBay at good prices.

If the stock air box is good enough I'll just repair it, I figured a Pipe & Re-Jet would be the best upgrade for a stock engine. Thanks for the info ... Dennis

You can get some good gains on a two stroke motor, with just a pipe and rejet. The ZX is a real good pipe with a broad spread of power, and easy to set up
