I screwed up big time and lost my license. Good news is here in S.C. you don't need a license to operate a 50cc scooter. I needed a way to carry my sorry butt to work everyday so i elected to purchase me a ride. I didn't think I would be to keen on the whole 30 mph scooter deal..... turns out I LOVE IT!!!!!!! Of course the man in me can't leave well enough alone, and with a few tweeks here, a lot of research, a few more tweeks there, bam, I'm running 40 with no mods. Never-the-less enough blah... I'm new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself, and thank everyone for sharing. Knowledge is power, and power equals speed. I look forward to reviewing this site on a daily basis. I attached a pic of my ride loaded down with tools ready for my work day. Attachments:

Good looking scoot. They're more fun than a lot of people realize and can be addicting, as the majority of our members know.

Too bad about your unfortunate choices. Hope enduring the consequences will lead you to making better choices in the future. In the meantime you've found a cheap, practical and fun way of meeting your transportation needs, not to mention discovering a new hobby and hopefully, passion. If you hang around here very long there's no telling where the new friendships and knowledge base will take you. Great to have you on board. We strive to maintain civility here while sharing in the joys and woes of modding and using scooters to enhance our lives. REPETITIVE VISITS TO THIS SITE MAY LEAD TO GREASY HANDS, WANING WALLETS AND THE NEED TO ACQUIRE ADDITIONAL OR FASTER SCOOTERS

Unfortunately I didnt learn my first few time and am in the same boat as you so to speak. Lifetime suspension here. I chose a scoot that would be a bit more durable and lucked on a gem. Local law enforcement has been wise to displacement mods for quite some time and my area of focus is tuning and been gaving great luck so far

I am in the process of beginning to tune now. Just turned 1000 mile so she's good and broke in. I just finished putting on a new high flow air filter.

Just put a halt on adding anything that will alter the performance of the engine. I went to purchase a new jet set from the local dealer where I bought my ride. He then informed me that any unapproved upgrade will void the manufacturer's warranty. I guess I can wait

I even asked the Yamaha dealer if they would derestrict it for me. They told me "Yamaha does not do that anymore"

Yeah....I asked the man at the shop if he could derestrict mine. Sure, he says, but it will void your warranty. The kicker to it is that he had a whole list of parts he could add, for a small fortune, that were approved only if his shop did the work. I just laughed and said no thanks. Hell I could have just went down the road a little ways and bought a Tao-Tao for the price of his upgrade package...... sounds like a scam to me, but then again he is the only authorized Puma dealer within 150 miles.

Good thing you don't live in Michigan! You need a drivers license or moped license to operate a moped. In MI, I can drive on any road except a freeway. It is amazing how I get pulled over by cops and told I can't drive on certain roads. They are wrong! Be aware of the laws in your state, sometimes even the cops don't know them! By the way, scooters are habit forming and a lot of fun.

In the land of the not so free, the U.K. You need a drivers licence, road tax, insurance and after three years old your scooter needs an yearly inspection, to ride on the road
