I recently bought a TaoTao ATM50-A for my son to ride around on. Pretty neat little scoot for the money. Yesterday he picked up a nail in the rear tire which was easy to plug, but when I inflated the tire there was an obvious leak near the rim where the nail hole in the tire was. Sure enough, there's a small nick in the bead. I can get another tire for about $40 (EagleATV Parts), but I'm wondering if there's a cheaper solution. I'm wondering if I can just put an inner tube in there, since the tread on the tire is in great shape.
Seems like there's lots of informed folks on this forum, and I'd be interested in your opnion about this. Thanks!

here is something i found online hope this helps
Q: I have been told not to install a tube into a radial tire, but no one knows why. Can you tell me if it is not good practice to install a tube in a radial tire?
A: It is a bad idea to put a tube into any tubeless tire. Tubeless tires have a considerably more robust construction than tube tires, which need the help of a tube of air to maintain sidewall stability and air pressure.
If we put a tube into a tubeless tire, there will be huge amounts of friction between the side of the tube and the inner liner of the tire. With every rotation, the sidewall will flex and rub against the tube. Friction equals heat. Heat is the ultimate enemy of tires, especially sidewalls. They are the weakest point of construction. Eventually the result will be BANG!

![](http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh302/turbostang331/smileys/welcome.gif) to the forum. I've seen tubes put into tubeless tires and they've been fine. I'd trust a new tire better and they aren't that expensive. Parts For Scooters also has 3.50x10 (what's stock on the ATM50) for under $30 and this month you can use code AUGUST10 for 10% off of the order. Motorcycle Superstore has a Michelin for $35. I've been happy with any Michelin tire I've used so far.
