Anyone who is trying to de-restrict the CDI on a Kymco Super 9. There's a really easy way that works really well. A GY6 4 stroke CDI works on a Super 9. So you can just buy a no rev limit CDI for any GY6 150 and it will also work on the Super 9. Believe it or not, it is true. I have done it.

Could you take some pictures of the wires in the CDI coupler ? And tell me the different wire colors.

If you cut the green wire on the stock cdi you don't have to buy a new one it will still only goto about 10500 though but still wayy cheaper to cut the wire or unmout the green wire from the plug just another poor man's tricks

Seeing that there are AC powered CDIs and DC powered CDIs its not good to think they are all the same

Resurrection time! Anyone have pics and/or video of this mod, and proof of its operation? I just picked up a minty fresh '07 S9 and don't really wanna mess it up with some ill-conceived notion. Thanks.

It's normally a green wire that comes out of the cdi and goes back in the cdi. It's a loop. That can be cut. My Triton and Rx8 have a green wire leaving the cdi. If I unhook it the scooter will not start. My Rx8 will rev to 11k+ if I let it with the stock cdi. The cvt is tuned so that it will max around 10.8k.

If you have 6 wires to your CDI and 2 of them are green going to 2different terminals on the CDI and if one of the green wires go back to the pick up on the flywheel then you need add another earth to that wire as the CDI disconnects that earth but if you add another earth it should run on

If the other earth wire goes inside the CVT there will be a pick up on the clutch bell i just unbolted the pick up covered the magnetic part of it with a milk bottle top and taped it on moved it out of the CVT and put it inside the fairing on the left side of the battery. its been there for 6 months

Thanks. I'll take a pic and post it as I'm unsure which to clip.
