Hello 49ccScoot members! I've been a long time lurker on this forum but recently decided to start an account so I can share my experiences and maybe help out a bit. I bought my first scooter in 2002 a 02' yamaha vino classic. I absolutely loved the body styling but after a month or 2 I started realizing 36mph was not cutting it for SoCal traffic. So I heard about removing restricters, got the variator ring out,exhaust cone yanked out, slight air screw adjustment and bam! 42mph. That didn't last long "still too slow". Went online found a place called scootershop.com near by, saw they sell pipes for my motor $125 bucks later I'm rocking a Gianelli Silencer "shot" exhaust. Fast forward 8years later and my Vino has a fully built motor. S6 crank, Malossi bearing, S6 Street race 70cc, Polini reeds, various Dellorto carbs 17.5/19/21mm, Polini variator, hebo drive face, malossi Kevlar belt, malossi delta clutch+bell, malossi 17/40 gears. So I guess you can say I'm familiar with scooter tuning, especially the Minarelli horizontal 5BM. That motor is basically the same as the jog 3kj/3yk or short case clone but it has a much bigger reed cage (had to cut my reed petals), different drive gears, and different intake manifold. Kinda hard to source those parts in the states because the Vino was the only scooter offered here with the 5BM motor. The only other scooter to have that motor was the Asian market 01'+ Jog Z/ZR/Evo. Anywho the main reason I joined 49ccS was that I recently picked up a QJ1E40QMB motor. And this site seems to be the place for bad ass clone builds. Well I hope I can help out new and old members with my experiences and pick the brains of the masta tuners.
