Well this sucks! I put the pc in and a new 02 sensor and a new fan. It started right up and ran great. I let it idle for about ten minutes then shut it off. Went to re-start it and it did the same thing and fried the pc the same way! Just happened so i gotta chill out and think....??....

The fan needed replaced before this happened, i just made it the time to do it. Same with the O2...What is causing it i wonder? Fuel pump maybe? Its what quits priming when the relay box smokes....To late to feel the warm wires now.

Its what quits priming when the relay box smokes....To late to feel the warm wires now. Only if the overloaded component opened up. If it did so then you can pop the cover on the module and trace the burned component to it's output edge connector and on from there to the bad part. You should be able to come by a schematic on-line which would make the job a lot easier.

Yes sir, gotta dig up those schematics so i can figure out what fried and why? I suspect the fuel pump??? I took the cover off the relay box and found what fried, what it relays is what the REAL problem is....Im still working on that. Heres the back side of the panel. Heres the front. The burns trail to the same relay. These two resistors closest to the edge and the one cap in the middle look bad also. Now i just need to dig through some schematics to figure out what else is bad before i burn up another relay box. Thanks for the help and links guys, any more would be great.... What a scooter forum! A guy can even get help with his car here for cryin out loud! This place rocks!

Think a bad ignition tumbler(were the key goes in) would cause this? I know Fords dont have the best ignitions and i have had to replace them in the past for that reason. They get worn and the contacts get weak. Sometimes the get so bad a good bump will kill the engine. Or if you just barely move the key certain things will flicker or shut off from a bad connection. Just a thought? Might get a new one anyway, they are pretty cheap!

The only thing worse than a Ford ignition sw. is a GM ignition sw. I would tend to say that the ign. sw. ain't the problem but I could not be certain. Keep digging, you're on the right track.
Probably the best reason to replace the sw. would be that it could leave you or Erica stranded sometime.

We had an airplane that kept popping the landing gear circuit breaker, had wires going every which way to all three gear, ended up putting inline test fuses in each wire on that circuit to find the short, finally got it ,but it took weeks!! If it starts that means the pump IS running, what if you unplug the pump, then OHM out the wiring from pump to relay box,may be a few components inline with it though..Could run the pump with jumper test wires with your ohm meter in the AMP setting to see the actual draw the pump pulls.. GOOD LUCK!!
PS,those PC boards can be fixed by soldering a jumper wire between the burn if it didnt fry any other components...
