ive had my head off before when i clean up the combustion chamber. and i took out the stock cam and put it back in adjusted my vavles and it ran fine. Yesterday i tryd putting in my new a9 performance cam. I had the two holes paralell with the head and the third hole on the top, pulled the rocker arm assembly, loosened the tensioner and removed stock and added a9. tightend up the rocker assembly. then the tensioner and checked the valves to make shure they wernt tight or binding turned the engine by hand once. then buttoned it up and nothing no start, dosent even come close. is there something i missed or didnt do for this new cam. do i need to adjust the cam timing. the have has the same lift as stock, but longer duration than it.

If the motor passes the finger-over-the-sparkplug-hole compression test and you have spark and fuel then it should start. If the compression is weak then recheck the valve timing and then check for a bent valve (probably have to remove the head to do this).

I can't say that my cam has made a big gain in performance either, but it does seem to like to rev a little more with the cam so it can pick up a little on the top end which is most seem to be going for anyway.

i still am adjusting my carb to try and peak the potential. I noticed yesterday when i was running my scooter with out my filter on that there seemed to be gas spitting out. so i to it off and apart went threw it, cleaned it and put it back on. i had also noticed that the needle for the main jet seemed to be fluttering at WOT. i had trimmed the spring a while back perhaps to much so i stretched it back out again.

i played with it more. I took off the filter and watched the slide as it move as i revved it up. I noticed it wasn't going up all the way, restricting the max flow of air. i cut a coil off the spring checked again. i did this until it went all the way up. i had also moved the needle up to the highest setting. I was able to gain close too 10mph. the run i did before this was 22mph then well 32. i still plan on dialing in the carb some more

Nice improvement. Is this a 49cc or have you got a BBK?
